AAC Strikes Out Again
Just like 2014, the 2015 AAC baseball season has zero regular season home games televised. We will have a handful of road games vs SEC opponents shown on either the SEC-Network or ESPN-3.

Now, lets be honest, college baseball is not a huge draw so I wouldn't expect a large number of nationally televised games. However, when CUSA has managed to get 3 nationally televised regular season home baseball games carried by Fox this year with another 11 CUSA home baseball games televised nationally by the new syndicated ASN (American Sports Network)--one has to wonder exactly who feel asleep at the switch in Providence.

Not to mention, our own American Athletic Conference Digital Network will be carrying a total of zero baseball games and zero softball games. Yay digital network! What are we working on all spring, next fall's football highlight reels? The only coverage the digital network will provide is the post season championship tournaments. The regular season will be for all intents and purposes, invisible.

Baseball has the potential to be a revenue sport for several AAC schools. There are some solid upper tier baseball programs in the AAC. Houston, ECU, UCF, and Tulane are almost always strong. It seems to me this is EXACTLY where we should be picking up the exposure slack by using the AAC Digital Network to create feeds that are either broadcast over the Digital Network or streamed through the ESPN-3 site. If I have a current criticism of Aresco--this is it. No reason we cant utilize our digital network the same way larger conferences use their conference networks. The Mountain West digital network literally runs circles around our pathetic effort.

We need to step it up. No reason the MW or CUSA should be beating us in the exposure department.

Alright, rant over.

That Tulane guy that hates Aresco was right, our commissioner is just an overpaid bum. He couldn't even get any of our baseball games on TV. :)

I've tried to watch a few college baseball games on TV and just couldn't watch for more than an hour or so. The in-stadium experience at the major college level is great because you're right on top of the action which you could only rarely get at the MLB or Triple A level.

lol....to be clear, Im ok with Aresco. But I don't like to see us out done by CUSA. Frankly, Id like to see us do some cutting edge stuff with the digital network. We are all going to be here a while, we may as make this place as good as it can be. Maybe NBPriate is correct and an announcement for TV is right around the corner---but with baseball season starting in 2 days, it seems kinda late in the game for anything affecting this season to be announced.

They have contracts with CUSA and others but not us. So yeah... 07-coffee3

Agree, we should have some games televised...especially with UH being projected to be a top team this year. I like watching baseball, so I'll see a couple of the Coogs games, cheering the conference mates on, except when they play Memphis.

I'm a huge sports fan.... watch a ton of it on tv and I've NEVER watched a college baseball game. Not a bit of desire to even see it... so this doesn't bother me a bit -- the tv contract shows what is important and what will give the conference its best ratings... basketball and football. We don't need to water down the contract value more and stumble out some 0.0 rating numbers for a sport that that has essentially a regional following.

I'm surprised ECU/UVA didn't at least make ESPN3, same for Tulane/Peperdine.

Looks like an oversight to me. One they should be easily able to correct for next season.

I'm fully aware of what ASN is. My concern is CUSA has found a way to get 14 home baseball games televised while we have zero. We can do better. Like I said, at the very least I like to see us with a "game of the week" on the digital network. However, baseball probably lends itself to a "series of the week".

Doesn't matter. Unless your position is you don't want any of our baseball games on TV----then none of your knocks on the CUSA deal matters. Like I said, no reason a confernce with our resources can't televise some baseball. We have the means---it's just a matter of doing it.
