So that makes LU playing two SBC schools in 2014 vs. App St, 2015 vs. Ga So, and a C-USA school in 2016 vs. N. Texas St. I wonder if there is anything behind this or is it just completing a schedule? This not a WVU or UNC money game. Seems like it's more of we want to show we can compete with, and beat them.

No this was the idea to not schedule d2 games any more and sweeten the chances for fbs wins. We will have a low level and high level fbs from here on out.

I like it. Eventually we snatch one of those App St/Michigan, VT/JMU victories and it will be sweet.

RE: N Texas 2016?
I like playing as many FBS games as possible and eliminating the Division II bloodbaths. If we want to be FBS ready then we need to play FBS competition and win. And we also need to make inroads with the schools that will determine whether we join their conference or not. And I'm always okay with playing a game in Texas. Got to get the recruits. It is important we get in a conference with a Texas presence or at least schedule out of conference which is less ideal.

RE: N Texas 2016?
With north Texas and Baylor now on our schedule I would say this has more to do with recruiting than conference realignment. So next year when we recruit Texas we can say you'll be back down here playing in 2016 and 2017. I hope I'm wrong, but after this years talk about scheduling I wouldn't be shocked to see Baylor buy that Liberty gave out. Hope I'm wrong.

Baylor won't be buying out that game unless the Big XII forces it. There are strong reasons why that game is being played. It is not a random matchup.

You hear that everyone? The Big 12 is using this as a tryout. We're going to be one of their next invites!

Great scheduling for LU and I also hope Sly is right and that the game will be played.

Since we've got the Baylor and N. Texas gigs, let's just do an annual state tour..... Miami/FIU, Michigan/E. Michigan, Louisville/WKU, UCLA/San Jose St., Tennessee/MTSU, Va. Tech/ODU, Cincinnati/Kent, etc.

I know you are probably sarcastic but I wouldn't mind a schedule with a P5 opponent and another against a winnable G5 opponent in a nice recruiting state. Get our exposure out there and hopefully knock off an FBS school.

No sarcasm there as that appears to be LU's new and improved OOC schedule for 2014, 15 and 16 rather than Concord, Glenville State and the others.

I was referring to his idea that we would play a P5 and G5 of the same state in the same year. I think it is a good idea to double dip FBS games but Texas, California, and Florida are the only states I would be willing to do that for.

N Texas 2016?
It was partially kidding. It's probably not practical to schedule that way, two in the same state. But I like the idea of a marquee FBS game and a winnable FBS game each year. Playing the states of Texas, California, Florida, with a few others mixed in (OH, PA, NC, NJ, AL, GA) are good for our program.

Progressive and good scheduling as the OOC FBS games expand the brand and helps LU reach broader markets for fans and recruits, plus gives an opportunity for nearby LU alumni to meet and greet. LU should go all out to invite alumni and provide them a first class time. That good will will go a long way. JMU is suffering the ridicule that LU did in the past with their weak OOC schedule.
