KSU Baseball gets underway this Friday at Winthrop for four games. KSU is picked to win the MAC Regular and Tournament this year.

The weekend rotation will include Eric Lauer, Nick Jensen-Clagg, and Andy Ravel. Should be an exciting year for the Flashes.

I hope we can get off to a better start than we usually do. We seem to not play our best ball until April-May. Granted, that is when you want to play your best ball, but it would be nice to play well all the way through for a change.

I like the non-conference than past years. It doesn't appear there is anyone that we can't compete with. That doesn't mean they will win every series, but I like their chances on paper:

4xWinthrop, 3xBaylor, 1x WVU, 1x Coastal Carolina, 2x Illinoiis, 4x Liberty, 3x Rider, 1x Purdue, 2xYSU, 2xPSU, 1xOSU, 2xOakland, 2xPitt

It will also be interesting to see how Ravel performs in the lineup.

Rough start for the Flashes as they drop they opener 9-1. They allowed only seven hits, but 5 errors did them in.

Flashes open the season 1-2 salvaging the last game of the series winning 9-5.

Today's game was canceled because it was "unseasonably cold" in Rock Hill, SC with a temperature of 35 and sunny. Using that logic, over half the games would be canceled at Schoonover Stadium.

A new indoor facility won't help a lot in the regard that we step outside for the first time and boot the ball around the infield. A lot of errors this weekend once we got outside.

KSU starting off the weekend well against #21 Baylor. They lead 5-0 in third.

8-3 in B7.

Flashes pounding out hits (17 so far) and lead 11-3 in the top of the 8th. This will be a nice win. So far NJC has gone the distance. He has given up 9 hits so it seems logical to think we will turn the game over to the bullpen soon.

Anyone know why Eric Lauer isn't in the starting rotation? They started Jared Skolnicki last weekend and he is set to pitch again this weekend. If Eric Lauer isn't one of our top 3 pitchers this year, we have some awesome pitching depth this year.[/align]

Flashes lost the first game today, and are in the top of the 8th in the final game of the series. We are currently tied 2-2. Winning this game would give us a series win over #21 Baylor and would be a great early season result.

Flashes defeat WVU 5-2 to open the weekend. They play Coastal Carolina and #25 Illinois the next two days.

Where are these games being played?

I think it's at Coastal Carolina. Conway SC.

Myrtle Beach. MAC rival Ball State is also there but we do not play them. They lost 1-0 to Illinois on an adjacent field today.

Wish I were there. Getting really tired of this Feb. weather.

That's okay. It will be March soon and we are getting 6-10" of snow on March 1.
