Wow game got canceled due to lightning in the bottom of the 4th. The Suckeyes caught a big break.

They didn't catch a break. They made a break. Chickens*ts. They didn't try to wait it out. They just called the game knowing they wouldn't take a loss or make it up.

I suspected that as well. We shouldn't play them again until they come to Schoonover. We don't need them on their schedule. There's enough teams that would be willing to play us.

RE: 2015 Baseball and Softball Season
Kent State Baseball has started to play much better and figure out the starting lineup, as they were dealt a blow with the injuries to starting Outfielders Jacob Neuschaefer & Alex Miklos.
Here is the link to the season statistics, so you can see how each player is doing through 28 games: http://www.kentstatesports.com/cumestats...&year=2015
Coach Beals, former KSU player & asst coach, sneaks out of a loss to his alma mater yesterday.....

RE: 2015 Baseball and Softball Season
Man, I was there last night...
We outnumbered their fans, we had just smacked 3 home runs, up 8-4, let out loud WE ARE KENT STATE chants, and then somebody pissed in our wheaties. This was a revenge game for me personally after witnessing the 66-0 blowout football game. This game left such a bad taste in my mouth.
However, we are waking up and the power seems to have showed up. I can't wait for the Ball State game tomorrow night. Unless that gets rained out too...

Flashes have two hits for the day, but lead Pitt 1-0 heading to the bottom of the ninth.
EDIT: Flashes win to improve to 20-12 on the season. Escaped a bases loaded jam.

RE: 2015 Baseball and Softball Season
Thankfully it only took seven spots off our RPI, now checking in at 62. That's good for a MAC team.
Speaking of which, there are three MAC schools in the RPI top 100. If this were basketball, the MAC office and Hustle Belt, etc. would be talking about it non-stop. Wonder why they seemingly care less when it comes to baseball. You'd think our 2012 run would force the league - and specifically the conference office - to at least give the illusion it cares about the sport. Guess not.
Go Flashes. OU coming in this weekend.

RE: 2015 Baseball and Softball Season
I'm actually surprised our record isn't better. Look at the lines for our starting pitching:
Nick Jensen-Clagg (6-3, 2.63 ERA, 66 SO, 25 BB, 9 GS, 54.2 IP)
Eric Lauer (2-3, 2.12 ERA, 60 SO, 14 BB, 7 GS, 46.2 IP)
Andy Ravel (5-1, 2.72 ERA, 37 SO, 10 BB, 8 GS, 46.1 IP)
That's some pretty impressive numbers. I feel the team is really missing something on offense, but can't place my finger on it.

1. Luke Burch
2. Jacob Neuschaefer
3. Alex Miklos
The 1-2-3 hitters in our lineup are likely done for the year due to injury. That's one thing to put your finger on.

Gave up 5 runs in the ninth and lost 7-5. We walked a bunch as in six in that inning.

JimJoyce,
I know Miklos tore his knee up, again. What are the injuries that Burch & Neuschaefer sustained?

What has happened to our baseball team? We seem to be mediocre to bad. Do we have the right coach?

We seem to be having a lot of down years. Mens golf, wrestling, women's basketball, gymnastics. I hope most of them are short lived.

OK - step away from the ledge -
We're first place in the MAC East right now...
We won the MAC Championship last year, with this coach...
Our next 3 MAC series are against teams with losing records in the MAC
We have a 3-2 record this year against the Big 10 (and it should be 4-2)
So this year, we're not at a level on dominance like we've had some years in the past, but we're competitive. I would agree that Jeff Duncan isn't at the same level as Scott Stricklin yet, but let him develop.
