Kennedy let Jesse Pinkman in sneakers hijack his program for a couple years. What little respect I had for his coaching abilities went out the window with that clown show.

Can we trade Andy Kennedy for Derek Kellogg?

I wouldn't be thrilled, but it wouldn't be a disaster.
PROBABLY the response any replacement would get, IF CJP is gone after the year...
What decent jobs could be open in the next 2 years?
Syracuse
Pitt
Cincy
Oklahoma State
Texas
St. John's
Indiana
There will be surprises, but probably not huge competition for whoever wants to make a move.
Hopkins gets Cuse unless this mess expands.
I think Dixon is still pretty well liked in Pittsburgh.
Unless Cronin is really going to be out on health, he seems safe.
Is Travis Ford on the hot seat?
Texas: Yeah, that might happen, Barnes is in constant trouble.
St.J: Yeah Lavin might have to fight for his job soon.
Indiana: I don't quite get this, but Crean is apparently in hot seat danger as well...
Yeah, not a ton of competition above us I think...

No tellin'...but that's a reasonable list. That's why we have to take advantage of timing, like we did with Cal.
If Marshall is really looking around, as some posters here have eluded to, we need to make a move ASAP!

How many New Years Day bowls will Fuente take Memphis to? Is that the gauge of being a good coach, or is it relative to the program?
I submit the later.

Barnes has been on the hot seat for a while. He bought some time last year, but it's still hot. All you have to do is google his name and the first news story that comes up references his job security.
Yeah, but he's righted the ship to an extent and Texas extended him over the summer. Barring a collapse, they will make the tourney and they just got back their best PG back from injury.
I know his seat had been warm for some time but the extension and turnaround this season seems to have quelled that issue.

Coach K never took Army to the NCAA tourney before Duke hired him.
Dana Altman went to 1 NCAA tournament in 5 seasons at Marshall and Kansas State before getting Creighton.
Scott Drew did not go to the NCAA tournament in his lone season at Valpo before Baylor hired him.
Etc.
Everything - EVERYTHING - is measured by the program status and the available talent and the financial/fan support.
Ole Miss is a dump basketball program - it's amazing anyone wins at all there, much less 20+ games a year.
I say that not even being a big fan of AK, but even I can recognize that you give Pastner his first job as HC at Ole Miss and he's not going to have the record he has had at Memphis.

Why?
OM (like Memphis in fb) has little history of success. Both fan bases for that sport are small and the facilities are second rate in comparison to programs who take that sport seriously.
A coach at Memphis is deemed successful if he can GET to a bowl, which essentially means the school finishes .500 and gets one of the 50 or so bowl openings available to the 120 or so schools.
OM has never won a conference champ in BB and has only been to the NCAA's as an at-large selection six times. He has taken OM to the postseason in 7 of 8 seasons and actually beat a higher seeded team (Wisconsin) in the NCAAt.
He currently has a team picked 6th in the SEC "in" the tourney according to bracket prediction sites. Obviously, there is enough season left to change that, but the fact remains he is doing well with less talent.
So, the question would be: can he recruit at a higher level if he made the jump to a bigger name school. I think the answer would be yes. He gets what he can get from Memphis now and seems to have a good relationship/inroad to the Memphis h.s and AAU scene. He played under Gene Bartow and coached under Huggins and certainly has a respect and understanding of what Memphis basketball means.
Just my 2 cents.
