Basketball this year and next
This is what happens when you aim high on recruits and you don't get the ones you want and need. This year was hard coming in and everyone knew that, we strung together juco players, pieced together senior transfers and made a hire of an assistant coach as more of a blackmail move than anything.
Josh should stay and will, at least through next year, he does need to do some house cleaning. We have had 2 assistant coaches on the bench for most of the season with Aki being out. Robert Kirby, I don't think could explain to the bums downtown how to get from the Westin to the Forum. And Lawson really doesn't care to do much of anything during the game.
Austin is a beast, who is injured. Shaq has checked out. Avery Woodson and Markel Crawford play as hard as they can, most of the time. But the PG spot is where a lot of the issue lies, Josh knew h Pookie couldn't do it and he hasn't really done anything to prove otherwise. Johnson is getting in shape and is the lesser of 2 evils at this point.
While this year has definitely gone from driving a Lexus to driving a Pinto, next year will be an upgrade, as long as we can get a point guard. Most of the top recruits have already signed so unless Pookie makes a huge improvement, I would look for another season with either a juco or transfer player running the 1. We have 3 top 100 players coming, but again if the car doesn't have a motor it is not going to run.

Don't agree about Shaq. He's been unhappy, maybe disheartened, but averaging 17.5 rebounds over the past two games. They don't just drop in your lap, he's fighting for them.
The kid deserves better leadership than he's getting. Tarik recognized it and got what he needed in Lawrence.

Pastner has shown no willingness or ability to address his shortcomings. The people he needs most, ie:players have discovered this. The program is bordering on national irrelevance.

That ship has sailed. Pastner is done here.

Unfortunately and painfully, I have to agree.

Bingo!!! So tired of being told these guys are overrated, you get raw talent from high school usually so you have to do something with them when they get to college. Every game he blames the players, look in the mirror Josh you need to play better. Please let this end soon.

Not sure we're bordering any longer. Doesn't take a long time out of the top 25 for all national exposure to dry up. And in our case, what national exposure we have had has mostly been blowout losses.
