Exclamation AN EXTRAORDINARY PROPOSAL
AN EXTRAORDINARY PROPOSAL is what I have for you to consider. I admit that it is a bit out of the box, but I think you will find it interesting to say the least. I propose that CUSA expand to 36 teams. That's right, 36 TEAMS!!!! Here is what it includes. First, it assumes that 6 AAC teams are eventually going to join the BIG 12. These teams are Cincinnati, Memphis, Central Florida, South Florida, Houston, and SMU. The remaining teams would join CUSA. Add all the football playing members of the SUN BELT and all the Independents except Notre Dame and you get the idea. Three FCS schools would move up with their "invitations" and you have the 36 teams. It would look like this:

CENTRAL DIVISION
1. Marshall A
2. East Carolina A
3. Appalachian State B
4. UNC-Charlotte B
5. Old Dominion C
6. James Madison ( FCS ) C

NORTHEAST DIVISION
1. Connecticut A
2. Massachusetts A
3. Army B
4. Navy B
5. Temple C
6. Delaware ( FCS ) C

SOUTHEAST DIVISION
1. Western Kentucky A
2. Middle Tennessee State A
3. Georgia State B
4. Georgia Southern B
5. Florida International C
6. Florida Atlantic C

WESTERN DIVISION
1. Brigham Young A
2. Idaho A
3. UT-San Antonio B
4. Texas State B
5. UTEP C
6. New Mexico State C

SOUTHERN DIVISION
1. La-Lafayette A
2. La-Monroe A
3. Southern Mississippi B
4. South Alabama B
5. Troy C
6. Jacksonville State ( FCS ) C

SUN BELT DIVISION
1. Louisiana Tech A
2. Tulane A
3. Rice B
4. North Texas B
5. Tulsa C
6. Arkansas State C

Needless to say that each team would play 5 games against their divisional opponents, 4 games against CUSA teams in other divisions ( Sun Belt As vs Southern Bs, Sun Belt As vs Northeast Cs, etc.) And each CUSA team could schedule 2 games against POWER 5 CONFERENCE TEAMS. The 12th game would be a home game against an FCS team. I hope that you will provide feedback and further suggestions which may enhance this proposal. It solves all future scheduling problems for all of these teams. Thank you. ------Greenwolfe

This idea is not new. I prefer smaller regional conferences but the thought of being in the same conference with certain Sunbelt teams is less than desirable. I would love split conferences of 8 playing a Multi-Conference Championship.

It is important to view this as a futures proposal. Nothing remains static, I expect that, in time, all these universities, even the Sun Belt ones, would benefit CUSA.

Dumb stuff. We've seen this nonsense a thousand times. It's funny how "new" posters come along occasionally and act like nobody's ever thought of this stuff before.

So many of theses programs deserve a spot in the P5 in place of P5Pretenders like Iowa, Arizona State, etc.

Oh my god thank you. I made an earlier point about how you are simple and respond to the exact same stimuli over and over again. It is always nice when the subject of said experiment complies in such obedient manner.

Nah, you are the one that obediently came running when you read my post which very predictably brought about a reaction from you.

RE: AN EXTRAORDINARY PROPOSAL
Expanding the B12 to 16 only dilutes the profile/payout. The only way Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas would agree to that is if they already have plans in the works to move elsewhere.

Size alone makes this conference unstable.

I do believe another wave of expansion/realignment is building. I just don't think this is it.
