Are we really bragging about a near sellout? This game should have been standing room only 10 minutes after we beat Houston.

I didn't want to be an a$$, but that's exactly what I was thinking. You are in first place and undefeated in the conference (in a much superior conference than the one you played in last year). How are your games not being near-capacity/sold-out on a regular basis now?

I think this is a big reason why so many AAC fans were opposed to Tulsa's addition to the conference. How much fan support can a small, private school generate? With such a great season, I expected a lot more.

Attendance is all a momentum game and the team's struggles at the beginning of the year really stalled our momentum. Luckily it's coming back finally. Hopefully we can get the W vs SMU and keep it going. The Don Rey used to sell out regularly during then NCAA years of the late 90's. The population is here. We just need to give them a reason to start coming back. [/align]

Tulsa basketball drew big crowds for 25 years. Sellouts were common. 18 of our first 23 games in the Reynols Center were sellouts. The Doug Wojcik era sucked the life out of Tulsa basketball. We are just now getting the fans back. Hopefully, tonight's sellout crowd will be commonplace occurrence again.

Thanks for the response. I can see the growth...I guess I just thought it'd be quicker. FWIW I was one of those people questioning Tulsa's addition to the conference, but Tulsa has proven themselves, and I am glad to have the Golden Hurricane in the AAC.

SMU/UC wasnt sold out. Not even close.

Capacity is smaller and its in one of the biggest cities in the country and SMU was in the top 25.

But no one ever cries about SMU's attendance here.

Yes Vampire Doug Wojcik sucked the life out of the Tulsa Basketball program for 7 years. He held on for dear life until he was rode out of town on a rail.

I'm actually amazed Tulsa's attendance is high as it is, given their arena holds nearly double their student body.

If you include only undergraduate it's almost 3x the student body.

In any case as many have said we use to have huge crowds. In the late 90s when the Reynold's Center was built there was a lot of angry boosters that the arena would only hold 8,300. Many felt it should hold 11-12k.

Wow isn't Cincinnati cool! I mean golly gee!

They can draw roughly 1/3 of their undergrads to a game. While Tulsa drew only 3x their undergrads!

Wrong. Both the LSU and Cal games sold out. The only one that didn't was the UC Irvine game in which our ticket office had no clue what they were doing.

Don't waste your time....Tulsa fans are mad because they are figuring out what we all have been saying all year: They have a nice team, not great and their 10-0 record was bloated due to a backfilled schedule. The first really tough game just happened for them and they lost...at home. More losses to come most likely.
