Fuente recruiting interview
I've been swamped at work so I haven't had too many opportunities to get on here.

Yesterday (Thu, Feb 5) on Wolo n' Bash they had Fuente on recapping the recruiting class.

It's been posted to their podcast section. You have to register -- it's free -- to listen.

Scroll down to Wolo n' Bash
Click on Wolo N Bash (Feb. 5 - Hour 1)

Wolo talks about the 2 Parade All-Americans at the 0:06:00 mark.

The interview starts at 0:09:47.

This was a GREAT interview -- CJF knows what he's doing. You can hear it in what he says. And he gives great insight into his recruiting process and the class we signed.

Check it out. You'll be glad you did.

But hurry before it falls off the bottom of the list of posted files.

Follow umbluegray instructions.

Coach Fuente validates what I have been saying about football recruits. The star system is over rated, it's about how you evaluate the players and your system. It's easy to pick 5 stars and some of them are not all they seem but most are. After that, only time will tell due to their development and the coaches' evaluation as to what a player will become. We have a real coach in Coach Fuente.

How to win without Blue Chip Recruits

Good article, mentions Patterson at TCU a lot. I think Fuente has a similar approach here.

RE: Fuente recruiting interview
Thanks for posting.
This stuck out to me: "I tell people all the time, 'Yeah, we'd love to recruit a four- or five-star player, but we want him to have a two-star mentality or even a walk-on mentality, somebody that's going to keep rolling up his sleeves and not be happy with where he is,'" Patterson said. "Those kids have a chance to be a lot more successful if they approach it that way, and we have a lot better chance to develop them and fit them into our system."

Definitely sounds like Fuente.

There is no star rating for "attitude". Also, I am not sure of the players name but about 2 or 3 years ago, TCU had an All American who was not highly recruited simply because he only played one year of high school football.

RE: Fuente recruiting interview
I found it interesting in his recruiting press conference that he mentioned the feedback he got from recruits about The Liberty Bowl, the American Conference, THE UNIFORMS and the style of play.

He knows what he's doing.

Is this how you spell arrrrrrrrgh! A scream of frustration because people want to keep having this same argument. It doesn't matter as long as we like our recruits and we win with them. Can we swear an oath to never enter this territory again and leave it to other boards to have the endless battle?

Oh wait! That's what this board does.
