I remember parking every day near the old Snoozys and playing Frogger trying to cross 10th avenue. I remember driving by a few months ago, thinking "wow those soft business students have a red light now. To help then cross the street. Back in my day...." And then I stopped my self.

I spent as much time in Lot 15A as I did in class...slowing riding up and down each row, searching, waiting.
Back in 1970 when I was a student (MA in 1972), the UAB administration was constantly fielding complaints from the Baptist Book Store, the Towne House and other area businesses that students were using their parking spaces to go to class. There were no lots or decks then as there are now.

And that is why I stopped myself. I was starting to sound like him.
I'd say I was fortunate/smart to have a motorcycle when I was at UAB in the 80's - just drove up on the curve & parked near the door to the building I was in

You are too young to sound like me. A walk from Snoozy's on 10th Ave to Tidwell Hall would be a long walk. Of course, when I was 30 (1971), I could walk such distances more comfortably than now.

Oh... For some reason I pictures you being from the dial-up modem generation...
I guess "back in my day, I didn't have a smart phone until my senior year" doesn't do anything for anybody.
It's probably one of the few buildings that will look & function better in person than it does on paper. It looks like 1970's style construction with lots of extra glass.
Much needed. It will be a downgrade parking wise, but otherwise it will be graymt. We always had a ton of parking at the sob when I was in school. Even if you had to walk from the soccer field, there was always spots. Are the the engineering folks going to take over the BEC?

Exactly. I hope you're right. Could be worse. At least it's not brutalist.
They will probably hold out an olive branch to the displaced students ( from their parking ) by turning the football practice fields into NEW parking lots.
I am passionate about our School of Business. After hiring business grads from schools all over the state, I can unequivocally state the Collat School of Business prepares students to lead out of the gate better than anyone.
And Ray, I don't give much of a **** to your medical-business forced hybrid classes. Teach me the Black-Scholes option pricing model or GTFO.
