Football recruiting budgets
I found this article from the Tennessean saying that UT has spent almost 36% more on football recruiting since 2008-09 than any other school in the country.
"Annually, over that period, Tennessee spent nearly $1.3 million, 36 percent more than any other university. No other school averaged a seven-figure expenditure. Tennessee finished second only once, in the 2012-13 school year. Auburn spent $1,384,188 on football recruiting, outspending Tennessee by $91,644."
This article imples that UT is not getting their money's worth, based on the results on the field over this time period.

I wonder what the Tigers' football recruiting budget is?

Football has had more money for recruiting in the past few years because it has been moved from the basketball budget. Which should answer some questions for people wondering why Pastner isn't involved with some of the top flight out of town recruits.

It's amazing what Fuente and staff have done with the mess they inherited and the resources available. I think our staff is head and shoulders above UT's at this point. Fuente is a much better coach than Jones (with out all of the corny expressions) and the new OC UT just hired (Debord) is laughable. Imagine what our guys could do with a P5 budget.

All of the recruiting money that the Vawls have spent over the last 2 years has produced top 10 recruiting classes... but this year will be the telling story if that results in winning games on the field. If they win a minimum of 7 games this year and go to a P5 bowl, then I would say it was worth the money they spent.

The thing about being in the SEC, your classes are almost always gonna be in the top 25 just for what you can offer. Dooley's three classes were 9th, 14, and 17th. At some point you have to be able to coach when you are playing teams week in and week out with similar talent. Butch Jones just hasn't shown to me that he can actually coach.

Am just happy we have gotten to the point where the football staff doesn't have to share laptops.

Jones first two classes have been ranked #5 and #4. 2016 class appears to be top ten. Overwhelming talent especially on defense translates into wins.

Starting when? This will be his third year and he has a losing record. He won't have "overwhelming" talent as compared to other SEC schools, and he hasn't shown he can beat teams with equal/better talent. He's won 5 out of 16 SEC games- 2 against Kentucky, 2 against SCAR, and 1 against Vandy.
And lol at 2016 being a top10 class. It's waaaay to early to have any idea what that class will be. The same rankings that have UT at 11 have Duke at 15 and Alabama at 25. Are those accurate you think?
