A few surprises but Memphis probably has the biggest separation >>>

... Here’s a look at this year’s final AP poll, along with their recruiting rankings over the last four years, according to 247Sports' composite rankings....

RE: Chart: Comparing the top 25 teams to their recruiting rankings
The stars aren't critical, but in my opinion, what does matter is getting the players that you want at that level. What I mean is that with all the players being ranked, there is a disparity in talent level within the stars. As an example, I'm sure that many 2 stars are better than the lower rung of 3 stars. Then there are the two most important things, evaluation and player development.

That is very interesting. For example (assuming I'm reading this right), it says that the schools who got the #2 recruiting classes in 2012 and 2014 didn't even make the last top 25. Also, whichever teams scored the #4 recruiting classes in 2011, 2012 and 2013 didn't make the top 25. There are other highly ranked recruiting classes missing (obviously, since teams like Ga Tech and Memphis, with our rather low rankings, are in). So much goes into having a great season beyond great players. You've got to stay injury free, have the right schedule, keep players eligible, pick up a quality transfer here and there, and, of course, have good coaching.

For the most part it looks to me like evaluation, development and coaching are more important than strars.

Looking forward to what will hopefully be a second winning season next year.

All trends look good.

Yep, put the talent in position to exceed.

That's a pretty darn impressive job by Coach Fuente.

Yes it is. That is a very large gap to bridge. He has done an incredible job here.

Fuente made a brilliant point the other night. He said 10 years ago we had a first round running back and didn't capitilize on it. He knows that you have to keep working.

Don't put up the same chart for basketball. We all may puke.

So basically he is the inverse of Josh Pastner.

Can we just have him coach basketball, too?

It only shows the top 25.

I was biatching about that for the rest of Tommy's career. Could throw in the QB too, he left here way up in the NCAA rankings of career passing stats.

How do you NOT sell that?

Also heard CJF talk about how the recruits all mentioned the uniforms, the Liberty Bowl and playing on TV.

It is funny that we signed 2 Parade honorable mention All Americans, and generally had a better signing class all around that what we've gotten in quite a while; yet this class (ESPN rank #74), is only slightly better than where we've been over the past 4 years.

It doesn't really matter, though. That's why they play the games!

The uniforms were maybe not everyone's cup of tea; but they were amazing. If you aren't fussy about school colours (and none of the recruits care), the all black, the blue/black, and the blue/gray were all spectacular.

I find it odd that Fuente would change things up by going to a silver helmet and doing away with the black. I THINK that that was being discussed in other threads.
