I would not bet against PJ's success. I believe in the old saying "its not about the x's and the o's, its about the Jimmies and the Joes".

PJ can recruit with the best of them and he is a great motivator that relates well to his players. WMU will be a formidable opponent next season and in seasons to come.

A strong WMU is good for the MAC and will lift all boats.

I think Bellicheck proved he can win with Xs and Os and not Jimmy and Joes.

When WMU beats NIU for the first time this decade, then he can talk.

I'm a bigger fan if the word 5peat...We are talking minimum 8peat

I totally agree. Who wants almost all the MAC teams to be poor & uncompetitive? I want the MAC East to rise to a good-level, and I don't want to see BSU sucking like they did this past year. With strong MAC teams, come strong OOC wins, which lifts the conference, lifts everyone's recruits, and lifts everyone's ratings (see 2003 - the year of the MAC).

I can't wait to see all of the NIU and WMU fans speculating which team is better based on their games against tOSU. Wait for it...

Our fans are obsessed with WMU, its amazing we can be that jealous of WMU when they haven't beat NIU in ages. Its a headscratcher to me.

I wouldn't call it jealousy... I'm just baffled that WMU finds room to talk **** when they haven't beat us in years. Honestly, it's just find it funny at this point. We're not naive either, though. WMU has had some good classes recently, and PJ has at least done a decent enough job of giving the university some life.

Just curious, how is a good WMU good for the conference?

I don't think they've won a title in some 25 or so years. Have they ever even been to a MACC? Also, when was the last time they even finished second in the division?

They also aren't really in either the Chicago or Detroit market. From what I understand, they're a good school academically, but they're not exactly a school like WMU needs to be good for the conference.

They're awesome at hockey, hasn't really boosted their profile.

The MAC is just a second rate conference, it's not like any of these schools steal big market print, any team being good is good for them.

I'd make an argument that NIU being good is best for them as the conference profile has been raised thanks to Lynch and NIU but I don't want to be bias.

Fleck is a polarizing guy, so anywhere he coaches will get attention. It could say Kish College and people would read about him. WMU being good doesn't raise the profile of the conference.

They're the definition of mediocre. No bowl wins, consistently around 6-6 and 7-5 with division places of 3-4 in regularity. They hadn't even won the Michigan mac title for a few years until now.
