Where did we defend him or his actions involving his taxes you lying fool?

And while you at it, why don't you provide all your proof that he cheated on his taxes?

Looke like he owes, just not positive on the amount.

And that does not prove that he cheated. Cheating (fraud) and merely owing back taxes are two vastly different things in the eyes of the IRS...and one of the biggest reasons why some folks are jailed and others aren't.

But that doesn't seem to bother some here who continue to foolishly take fox news report as some evidence of anything. Hence making them fools. Sorry if they just don't like what they are in this pursuit.

Did you report yourself or are you waiting for one of the liberal mods to catch this which will probably never happen in my lifetime.

For what. You guys not being truthful in your comments because you provide little to no facts and you are acting like fools. I've proven as much.

There is a myriad of possibilities as to why...and Sharpton is hardly the only guy who is not in jail who may or may not owe millions in back taxes.

Sure, and being on trial for murder doesn't mean you did it, but someone apparently thinks you did. And if a lien was slapped on you by the IRS you wouldn't worry at all because it's not necessarily what you owe in taxes and penalties, right?

There is a fine line between tax evasion and tax avoidance. That's for the IRS to determine.

Wasn't it a big deal when Reid said Romney didn't pay any taxes? He neither evaded or avoided paying them, it was just a friggin lie by Reid.

Steve, the IRS is famous for sending out notices saying you owe loads of money and penalties and more times than not, you actually owe a lot less or are not subject to all the penalties they detail. It happens all the time.

There is no line. That's like saying there's a difference between lying and voluntarily NOT revealing pertinent information.

Not necessarily. Cheating on your taxes is not the same as just not paying the amount due on the return. It's a HUGE difference with the IRS.

Also, the tax code is complex as you know. It's not hard to make mistakes on returns filed and end up with huge tax debts...again...that doesn't mean you cheated or were fraudulent.

If the difference is making a mistake and not paying $100 I can see that. However, apparently we're talking much more than that in this case. Wonder what would happen if I was due to pay a very large sum to the IRS and just simply didn't do it? Pretty sure my wages would be garnished, there'd be fines and probably jail time for tax evasion. Anway, anyone making that much $$$ doing their taxes is dumb to begin with. Maybe he can take his accountant to court?

Not necessarily. The key is whether you ignore them and their requests or not. If you engage in dialogue with them and make deals to make payments, as Sharpton is reportedly doing, they're more apt to allowing you to do so.

And yes, his accountant could have screwed up. But my guess it that this arose from poor money management with this group, where they took in a bunch of money and spent it without setting aside funds to pay the taxes on it.

Sounds like you're speaking from first hand experience. Are you a tax cheat, Tom? Have you been to the big house where they make little ones out of big ones?

I've been involved in the tax prep business since around 1990...initially working for various CPA's and currently making tax software.

It's like half of the people here just make up arguments that never existed. Not one person here claimed Sharpton didn't owe back taxes.
