There are exactly 3 post from 2 different people on this 3 page 25 post (now 26) thread of a pro SI PJ article or PJ view. The first is from a former NIU player and coach co-worker who directly worked with PJ for 4 years and the other saying the the publicity is good for the MAC. The other 22 posts go on to either bash PJ personally, correct the article's errors or make a funny remark that adds nothing to the obsessive PJ "man crush love" you think you think are seeing.

Disagree with the article, fine. Post a statistical fact that backs up that the article is incorrect, great (even better if you post it in the SI comments). Heck even say you hate PJ, fine. But questioning someone's mental state because of this topic is just sad, even more so because it does not exist in this thread.

I would understand the infatuation and admiration if he had actually won anything, but in reality the only thing of note he has done is cost his team a spot in the MAC championship game by a bad coaching decision against NIU

There are a couple posters here that have a HUGE woody for PJ. But, I don't think any of them have a stronger allegiance to WMU than to NIU.

Referring to an article about him SI does not change the fact that there is an obsession and man crush over him on here by some. Has nothing to do with the content/article itself, just him and stories on him in general. Then pics, quotes, witty humor, praising him, knocking him whatever. I think the guy is nuts, but is what it is. But to continue to post everything, anything about him, people referring to him to the nth degree about anything like the 6 degree of Kevin Bacon Movies is asinine. There is more about him then 95% of NIU coaches/players. It's non-stop!

Wrong. WMU wasn't going to the MACC whether they won or lost against us.

That's true I guess Toledo did end up beating EMU, but the fact is , it was a possible championship clinching game at the time and he choked in the biggest game of the year. And that Toledo result came after the WMU/NIU game. I am not saying NIU fans should stop admiring him or stop getting excited about WMU's future prospects, but can we at least wait until he wins a championship to get overboard with the excitement?

I still can't get over that MD said "most NIU fans have a stronger allegiance to WMU than NIU because of ONE man". Since when does the opinion of a few people on this board reflect the opinion of the majority of NIU fans?

My only point is, the advantage of bandwagon jumping is that it is a safe bet, but why jump on the bandwagon already when it really is just rolling out of the driveway. Wouldn't you want to see it get steam before you jump on, just an insurance thing.

Discussing another team in your conference, or its' head coach, doesn't mean someone has more of an allegiance with WMU than NIU. Some of the things going on at WMU are interesting because of a coach that has NIU ties and has had a lot of publicity lately - both good and bad. Most posters have said he is a bit crazy, a lot of his antics last year were laughable, but he has brought some good (hope) to WMU football. It doesn't mean we're rooting for them or him to succeed. As someone else mentioned, it's a slow football news time of the year, so people look for other news items to discuss.
