Please link to post where your "vision" led you to predict eight wins for Fleck-us this year.

Wow you guys actually see visions. Must be that Fleck magic. 03-cloud9

That is true, and I have posted more than once that he and staff convinced me otherwise last Fall.

It may be a misread, but it does seem to me that you still really don’t like the guy, and would can him today if you could. I always got the feeling that you (MH) were are an old school type coach, in the traditional mold (I know you were a successful coach at several levels, but don’t know much more). I know Fleck is part of the media-generation, and his style can be offensive; but it does seem to play well with recruits, players and even fans, and his personality seems perfect for the times, and college football in general. Do you have issues with all that, or are you rooting for his success? I know you are rooting for the team’s success, but are you good with Fleck getting "credit" for the success of the team? Just asking.

Not to speak for Hoople, but I can vouch for him warming up to Fleck as the season wore on, mentioning that it looks like he's able to coach them up. I don't think he's 100% on board with all of the slogans and such (understandable) but he's paid him some compliments during that hot streak.

I think Major made is feelings and intentions clear when he continually perpetuated a rumor that now has him in hot water.

He hates Fleck. He loves Western. He can't reconcile the two, and he's not the only one.

As far as CMU, I'm not wowed at all by the hire, although you never know how things pan out. Some Chip fans point to his being an alum as a big advantage. I dunno about that. Is there really a correlation there in terms of success?

I was lurking on CI and someone said that the stature of their program is such that the Bahamas Bowl "passed up" WMU in favor of CMU despite losing to us and a worse record.

But I distinctly remember hearing that we lobbied NOT to go to Nassau (logistics, financial reasons, opportunity to play a bigger 'name' opponent). And I think Nassau knew that they were going to get roughly the same attendance numbers no matter which MAC team was invited.

As fans we can debate whether that was the right decision from a pure spectator standpoint. However I think we were courting Idaho Potato from the get-go once Boca locked up.

I recall MH giving Fleck his props and compliments a few times too; but those props seemed isolated, and generally on conspicuous accomplishments. I too have things I like, and others that I dislike about Fleck, but overall I am delighted that he is our coach, and hope we have him for a while. My sense is that MH would rather Fleck wasn’t our coach, regardless of his record. But I’m not certain; so I am asking, as it gives some perspective.

I generally root for most of our state schools (less CMU of course), but not a "fan" of any school beyond WMU. If I were a fan of MSU, however, I would not like Dantonio, even with all the success he has had. There just is too much about him that has always rubbed me the wrong way. I just assume MH feels similarly about Fleck.

Come on Motown, they'd have said they were picked over us no matter what.

They could have playing Alma at The Satan Fire Bowl in Hell, MI, and they'd still claim their mass appeal got them chosen ahead of WMU, and half the BIG 10

I thought Idaho had selection over Bahamas?

Can you elaborate on this, Brovol? I only ask because I imagine Dantonio would probably have about a 98% approval rating among Spartan fans by now.

No real great reasoning here. The guy never seems to smile, he talks in football speak too much, he's an Ohio state guy? Total subjective stuff. The guy has just always rubbed me wrong.

I agree. The guy obviously has done great things at msu, and those folks love him. I will say though, when he faked that field goal a few years ago against Notre dame, I loved the ballsy call, and gained some respect for him.

Don't mention that idea anywhere near George Perles. He might try to make it happen. 03-shhhh

Do you have his number? I've always wanted to see CMU go to hell.

I'm actually from Pinckney, MI which is the town that Hell is essentially part of. I drive through it all the time, not all that special really. Hell is about a 5 minute drive from the house I grew up in.

Arrow, aren't you a little confused today..................this is the football board, who are the Michigan MAC Champs?

I hope your day starts to pick up a little bit.

Always proud to be a Bronco, RTB.

I'm not confused at all. I'm posting in a discussion about CMU's new coach. Did I miss where I trolled WMU in this thread, friend?

p.s. My day doesn't need to pick up at all. Today has been amazing already, and tomorrow will be even better. Thanks for the kind wishes.

I think he's going to do well at CMU. We ought to stem our cockiness, we've won nothing yet. As they say: "Pride goeth before the fall."
