I know you didn't ask, but per Scout.com, here were NIU's recruiting rankings in the MAC:
2007-10
2008-13
2009-8
2010-9
2011-6
2012-12
2013-7
2014-6
Finished in the top half twice.
NIU's MAC Signing Class Ranking according to Rivals:
Blake Countess DB (don't know if he's CB or S), from Michigan, is going the graduate transfer route. Wonder if we would be interested in him as a Safety?

Interesting how some put such a premium on recruiting rankings while others do not.
I see programs do quite well who seem to be low in the recruiting rankings quite often. I personally don't put to much stock in them.
You put stock into them, but only by asking how does this recruit fit into your team's system. Simply going by stars or rankings alone doesn't mean anything. You could get a 5 star pro-style QB, but if you run a triple option offense, it's not gonna be a good fit.
NIU has done a remarkable job, going back to the Novak years of finding guys that fit a particular system or position, coaching them up, and turning them into good players and teams. They've done it with guys who've had higher 3* star rankings, such as Ness & Meehan, and with guys who weren't so highly ranked, such as Loos and Logan, all four of whom were first-team all MAC last year.
And NIU's recruiting strategy seems to be pretty cut and dried in Carey's third year. I believe edgytim put it that, "if you camp with NIU, you're gonna get an offer." Carey and co know the type of player they're looking for and they're going to concentrate on getting those guys, just as Doeren, Kill, and Novak and their staffs did before them.
offer to Kolbi Mcgary LB/S from Texas. This is from Rivals
Recruiting wrap: McGary does not have an offer right now, but is a guy to watch in the spring. Texas Tech has shown the most interest. Performance: The question is whether or not McGary is a safety or a linebacker. He has very good size for a safety at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds and he is very quick for a linebacker. He spent his time at safety Sunday and he showed some nice footwork and a quick change of direction. He was fluid in his movement and really stood out during position drills."
