Opinions on the 2015 signing classes
https://www.rivals.com/

Next time someone says "SEC bias" look no further than what the SEC is doing in recruiting. Five SEC teams pulled in top ten recruiting classes and five other SEC teams pulled in classes between 11-25.

Regardless of what one may or may not do in the NFL that is a lot of college talent and 2014 was a pretty similar situation. I would not be surprised to see around 10 SEC teams in the preseason polls despite how the bowl games went this year.

But in my opinion the biggest winner was USC.

Even last year they pulled in some extremely great talent on defense despite hurting from sanctions. And they have got some serious talent coming in to play defense from this class.

RE: Opinions on the 2015 signing classes
It's almost unavoidable for preseason rankings to be influenced by recruiting rankings.

#SECBias kicks in when the teams actually play, and every team is dropped about 6 spots for a loss except SEC teams, which are only dropped 4 spots... that has NOTHING to do with recruiting.

There probably is some bias but it actually does have to do with recruiting.

When you bring in a lot of talent your naturally going to be considered a talented team. So when the other teams are also just as talented your losing to another talented team.

A 3 loss SEC could technically have a lot more talent than a 1 loss Big 12 team and that's true if you look at each individual player. You can't but a number on heart and tenacity but using the metrics it makes sense for the SEC teams not to drop as much.

To play devil's advocate... What impact does a school's interest in a player have on that player's rating?

RE: Opinions on the 2015 signing classes
I expect this year's high recruiting ranking to be the norm for Penn State under Franklin. It also has an impact on Maryland and Rutgers, both of whom had classes ranked in the 50s. Penn State used to be able to go into Maryland and New Jersey and pick who they wanted; those days may be back.

From the perspective of growing up in South Bend, it takes some special commitment to willingly submit yourself to four miserable winters if you also had offers for places like Austin, Atlanta, Tucson, or Tallahassee.

If analysts for Rivals, 247, Scout etc., are so good I wonder why college programs don't hire them and pay them well? I would like to see how good they would be if they had zero info on who has what offers.

Left out places like PSU, OSU, Michigan ect. all deal with what we do(Too varying degrees). If we win we recruit real well, if we're mediocre(8-5 type season) we are usually in the top 15 or so(Like this year).

It is just good training in case one is drafted by Green Bay, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Minnesota, New England, etc....

Interesting, I have a feeling that this did not exactly happen like this.

Since your going with this story how about your provide his name? Then provide his Freshman & Sophomore statistics, and compare them with his Junior & Senior statistics.

Then also provide the size of the school he attended and the record of the team.

Even if it did happen like that oversight of players always happens but who really cares. It's the top 300 that matter and who get's the most players in the top 300.

I love ours. Arguably the best class both in ranking and filling needs in our history. Half of the class enrolled in January and will go through Spring Practice.

Pleased with ours. One or two spots could have been better but we've got some solid playmakers coming in, especially on defense where we need a lot of help right now.

I am happy and perplexed with just a dash of frustration. Arkansas had a great class. We were able to satisfy a lot of our needs. But when you compare with other classes and conferences. I soon realize how hard it is for us.

This is how we placed in the SEC and how we would place in other conferences.

SEC- 11th
Big12- 3rd
Big10- 4th
ACC- 4th
PAC12- 4th
AAC - 1st

Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Tx Tech, TCU and Baylor within easy driving distance for most Hog fans.

One can dream, right???

Never hurts. Those Six plus Arkansas would be a solid base for a conference.
