Regardless of your feelings for the governor elected during that time, this clearly connects PBJ to anti-UAB feelings in government. This is a conflict of interest that is tangible, in print, and would be useful to SACS if they can find this in a library.

How do I find this?

MB tweeted them...perhaps he has a source. I think these would look great plastered all over campus next to the Fire Ray Watts stickers.

I can't remember if I found that online or actually have a copy of it. It is a pamphlet, I think. I have a huge political campaign collection. I am trying to find it. Will let you know if I do. I would think that the Alabama State Archives or some political collector of Alabama elections might have it. Perhaps if some library has Bill Baxleys papers.

"Bill Baxley is a avid Alabama fan, and has spent many hours recruiting student-athletes for the University of Alabama" ????

After you finish showing those posters to the SACS inspectors, show them to the NCAA Enforcement Committee.

Ok I figured out where they came from. I found it on twitter. On may 22, 2014, it was tweeted by someone named AU_history with the comment, "Roll Tide politics."

That is insane evidence on why Bryant jr. should have never been on the board of trustees. Holy crap.

Check out the Tennant McWilliams book "New Lights in the Valley." Bill Baxley is quoted as saying he got legislation passed to appoint Tuscaloosa people to the board because he saw that the current (late 70s/early 80s) board was allowing UAB to become a traditional campus.

Well, add those to the pictures from Phil Poole and things get interesting indeed.

RE: Are Bill Baxley Posters tied to PBJ a Smoking Gun? How Can I Find them in Library?
The Actual context is that Fob James was in a run off with Bill Baxley.

Fob ran the first TV commercial and a gimmick campaign - road around in a little yellow school bus. Baxley was seen as a old timey political insider - part of the three Bs (Baxley, Brewer & Beasley) plus actually had the nerve to put KKKs in jail,

Fob (an auburn graduate and all american)was winning in early poles by about 25 points. He spoke at an Auburn alumni gathering. He stated he would use school reform as a smoke screen to take down Tuscaloosa and even make Tuscaloosa a branch campus of Birmingham (got a big laugh on tape). Even the bear came out against Fob. Fob still won based on rural redneck areas but it was close.

PS The character Forrest Gump was based in part on Fob. Because The author could not believe anyone that dumb was elected governor.

Did you notice at the bottom of one of the Baxley for Governor posters the name of the campaign manager? Here's a hint. It's the same person that managed Governor Bentley's first campaign and contributed $25k to his second one - Paul Bryant Jr. This hatred of everything UAB started BEFORE Coach Bartow's NCAA letter! Bottom line: In these guys' minds, there is only one university in the state of Alabama that is worthy of any support - financially or politically - THE University of Alabama.

I wish his name was on the bottom of the other one. That would make a great poster for tomorrow even though he is "rolling" off the board. (Pun intended)

Political posters should be easy to verify as being authentic / memorialized or by being archived, if they cannot be authenticated it will be like the twit that pictured Watts on a plane returning from attending the SEC Playoff after seeing his favorite team play.
However, the heck with them, let them deny it, whether authentic or not the signs should be posted all over the BOT meeting room

For athe second time, they are not posters. It is a campaign pamphlet. And it is a verified fact that Bear endorsed Baxley because he was afraid if Fob won, state money would go to Auburn and UAB. Makes since that his son would head up a political committee.

This pamphlet is authentic.

If Memphis says it's authentic then I believe him. he may be many things, but he's not one to just toss out false info or hearsay and not verify it.

This is easier to believe and harder to fake than a fuzzy picture of someone taking a connecting flight out of Atlanta.

Don't you think it will be confusing if people show up holding Bill Baxley for Governor posters? 03-lmfao

Yeah, I'm thinking a 37-year-old campaign pamphlet isn't going to gather a whole lot of traction.
