Sounds like something is in the works for a fall back position. If CUSA rejects us, we will have little time to find someone else. a-sun will be bad, but better than nothing. Might mean a string of NCAA appearances.

I suspect it will be temporary as well.

The ASuck is currently 30th in total RPI (out of 33 conferences) and currently boasts 0 Top 100 teams. In addition, 6/8 teams are sub-200, and 3/8 teams are sub-300. If Haase stayed and we could recruit at the same level we currently do, we could be a Gonzaga of this league. But I fear losing CUSA status would lead to getting A-Sun caliber players.

This is seriously about the worst possible place we could go. I mean seriously. The a ******* sun? And we want to field competitive teams? This would **** over the entire athletic department. It is imperative that we bring back football and remain in CUSA. I know some people don't love it, but it could be 10 times worse.

We will be every team's Super Bowl.

If UAB ends up in the A-Sun, just lock the doors and throw the keys away. UAB Athletics will be officially over and out.

If they reject us, we will have until July 1, 2016 to find a new conference home. The interim AD said last night that C-USA will allow UAB to stay as a probationary member for the 2015-16 academic year (without football) while the school decides its future path. The conference is not inclined to shove UAB out the door with only a few days or weeks to find a new conference home because of the detriment it would cause to the current student athletes.

If it happens, it happens. We slum and then move forward later. It won't be the end of the world. I refuse to give up.

If we wind up in the a sun, we might as well not field d1 teams anymore. It's ******* ridiculous that we had to listen to that ****** say he had a couple of backup plans in the works and the asun is one of them. If he doesn't give a **** about UAB athletics, that's fine, but a lot of people do, and he shouldn't get to single handidly destroy them.

That's the attitude he is hoping the fans will take.

Well good for him. If he puts us in the shithole of a conference, he will get his wish. He's a lying sack of **** and I can't believe he is still in his position. I never believed he talked to other conferences, but this verifies it.

Why would other teams in Asun allow UAB in if we were looking for a way out before we land in Asun?
We would probably win most autobids with current roster and coaches. We would be looked at as a predator trying to steal the autobids. The money gets split as it is likely the only source of revenue for conference members, so that won't change. But if I were an Asun conf president I would want a 5 yr punitive penalty on UAB should we leave

From what I understand a conference has to have 8 conference members to keep their automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The A-Sun has 8. So, if a team leaves...

I just don't believe many of our freshmen and sophomores will stay with UAB if we tumble down to the A-Sun.

It'd be hard to see them staying. We will be in CUSA next year though, so there is that. But it would become hard as hell to recruit unless we just went on a couple of crazy runs in the next two years. I just can't believe the asun is even being looked at.
