Post Signing Position Review (DL)
I'll take a shot at the DL and leave other positions for others:

EMU returns all 2-deep DLs, except sr. Travis Lisner.

Returning are:

Steals and Harris (DL),
Brown and Pipkins (NT),
O'Conner and Powell (DT).

Dunlap (NT) played some as redshirt frosh. Dawson played some. Lion King, redshirted.

Add the following recruits:

Is Nick Dillon the only recruit likely to play as a frosh? I see no JUCOs, etc.

The rest of the recruits, e.g., Crosby, Andrews, Johnson, Figueruoa, etc. redshirt candidates?

Did I miss any?

RE: Post Signing Position Review (Brief)
At this point I'm not sure we're even signing Johnson. I think
Figueruoa plays immediately along with Dillon. Hopefully King has put on some weight. Andrews needs to add weight to play DL and Crosby could use more weight. I see those two as redshirts, Crosby can also play TE, Andrews has played TE and LB.

We need a better pass rush than we had last year.

Wonder if we lost Johnson and gained Figueruoa?

RE: Post Signing Position Review (DL)
I don't expect any of the freshmen D-Linemen to play right away. Jeremiah Harris was a rare exception last year, but I always want guys in the trenches to redshirt and become "college strong". We return a lot of experience on DL too, which limits the need to rush guys onto the field. Unless Nick Dillon or Kwanii Figueroa are too good to keep on the bench, then all bets are off.

RE: Post Signing Position Review (DL)
Dillon and Figueruoa come in more highly rated than Harris did on signing day. No offense to Harris who exceeded expecations. This is an area that requires immediate improvement yes the secondary was horrible last year but our rushing defense was almost just as bad. To me you bring in new players that can challenge those that are already there. Experience on a 2-10 team doesn't strike me as always a positive.

And guys who played against 240 pound offensive linemen in high school don't strike me as a positive either, at least not immediately. I'm sorry, if you're expecting true freshmen DTs to improve our defense right away, then we are already screwed. You have players that are already there to challenge the players that are already there (if that makes any sense). Players like Dunlap, Powell, Steals, and Pipkins are there to challenge the incumbent starters. It is rare to see immediate contributors in the trenches.

Then you should be listening to the signing day special and hear what the coaches have to say. They disagree with you on the idea of this class's immediate contributions.

Listen to the defensive coordinator's comments:

Fair enough. I'm not a football coach, and they know way more about the sport than I do. I just watch it a ton and rarely see true freshmen linemen playing. I guess we'll see come September, but I'd be very willing to bet that at least two of them redshirt.

I'm just amazed that the D-Coordinator still has a job. Must be nice putting together the nation's worst defense and not getting fired. Sends a solid message.

It was his first year on the job. So WMU should've fired Fleck after his awful 1-11 first season? I can only imagine your reaction if we went 1-11 and lost to Nicholls State. But you'll give Fleck the benefit of the doubt because hindsight is 20/20 and you're completely irrational when it comes to anything involving our school.

RE: Post Signing Position Review (DL)
Dear Friends,
Remember when I was reporting on the Coaches Luncheons last fall, and at one of them Creighton was asked about the overall quality of the team's talent? The answer was (without directly saying it) there wasn't much. So blaming coaches for last year's performance, may have some merit, but one also has to look at what they had to work with. Now I will be the first to admit that there is some talent on this team, and I think the last two classes have helped to build on that talent. It also was a new system, and making players fit into that system. Let's give these coaches a chance. Let's give the players a chance.

You mean the defense he mostly inherited from the previous coach whose defense was equally as bad?
