Parade AA honorable mention, Jamarius Henderson, to Memphis
http://highschoolsports.al.com/news/arti...er-cotton/

Signed this morning >>>

A total of three Alabama players – record-breaking Dale County running back Jamarius Henderson, Cotton and Johnson – have been honored as Honorable Mention selections on the annual Parade All-American list.

Henderson, a senior running back and linebacker, was named the Class 3A Lineman of the Year winner for the 2014 season at the banquet, sponsored by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AHSADCA). As a junior, Henderson was named 3A Back of the Year for the 2013 season. As a result, he has the unique feature of winning both of the class awards in his career.

Henderson ran for a state single-season record 3,483 yards this season and also set the AHSAA single-season mark for rushing touchdowns with 44 as the Warriors advanced to the 3A championship game. He ran for 1,465 yards and 15 scores in five postseason games, including a 204-yard performance against Madison Academy in the 3A finale.

On the two Hendersons

http://memphis.247sports.com/Bolt/Tigers...s-35371786

Jamarius chose Memphis over Cincinnati, Kentucky and Louisville after setting a single-season state record for rushing yards in Alabama with 3,483 yards in 2014. He scored 48 touchdowns, which was three shy of another state record. He also played linebacker for Dale County Christian, registering over 150 tackles.

Most of you have been following Darrell's recruitment for quite some time, and are aware of his accolades. The three-star back led South Panola to another state championship in 2014, and rushed for 2,253 yards and 32 touchdowns, including a pair of scores in the title game. Moreover, over the last two years, Henderson amassed 4,277 yards and 56 touchdowns for the Tigers.

Needless to say, both Hendersons are massive pickups for Justin Fuente and the Tigers. The good times just keep on rolling at Memphis.

Great gets, I particularly like Jamarius...but I'm giving 2/1 odds that someone in that backfield transfers with a year or two. Way too many mouths to feed.

You must of never watched TCU and how they use all those former high school QBs. We have versatile guys on our team that can slide over and play other positions. We have a number of DEs on our roster and some are going to play LB or the Dawg. If you have speed and skills Our staff will put you on the field in some way.

There's a reason why he was recruited as a running back, you're staff would be stupid not to use him there and ONLY there, splitting time splits talent as they say.

As for TCU...they recruit those players as athletes, WR, DB, whatever, but they most certainly don't tell all of them they're playing QB, and if they do, and the kids are dumb enough to believe it, they are made for each other.

Really? We're REALLY stacked at RB now. Note that Memphis *also* has a transfer from Ole Miss --- running back Mark Dodson. If a guy, like Henderson, is a Player of the Year on defense and can help there --- you don't think he might play that position in college?

On Dodson >>>

Dodson, a former four-star prospect, ... Dodson was originally a member of the class of 2013, and will have two years of eligibility remaining as a Tiger. He likely will not be eligible until the 2016 season, but a hardship waiver is certainly an option for Dodson, who is originally from Memphis.

The 5-foot-10, 189-pound back was considered the fifth best player in the state of Tennessee for 2013 and the No. 22 overall RB by the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Dodson received a rating of 91 overall.

I trust our staffs on the RB position than an outsider. You can never have to RBs. We almost were decimated last year early on with injuries.

I simply responded to the original suggestion of having a player play both ways. There is a very strong reason behind not doing that, as it halves the ability for a player to fully grow by cutting training, film, practice, and prep time in half for them at each position. Never said that anyone would be a bad option to flip from one side of the ball to the other, heck Connor Barwin did it at UC and he's made $50M in the NFL now. You obviously adjust for your present needs, but I just see a **** ton of RB's on a roster and red lights go off, because we've had the same thing happen at WR at UC.

Fuente has said that he doesn't recruit to position. Instead, he recruits by skill set and speed, and then finds a position for each one.

We already have one RB who was converted to WR. You might recall his name: Sam Craft. He ran wild on UC.

I honestly don't remember him, but I am completely fine with that way of recruitment and talent evaluation, I've always been a big fan of recruiting to the three S's, Speed, Size, and Smarts. Positional fit comes secondary to those three, and if you've got them, you'll fit in somewhere.

I think technically he was a QB first but your point remains the same. He can play multiple positions.

^^ Yeah, true, I was thinking college, not HS. He plays all 3 spots pretty well. I'd call him an all-around offense skills guy, lol.
