Signing day thread
How's everyone's classes shaping up for signing day tomorrow? Today Miami got a verbal from MLB Junior McMullen, a WMU decommit and the 14th best MLB recruit in the nation (since it's from Scout I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but it's nice to have some optimism for the future of our football). Overall Miami seems to be pretty solid, though (like many other MAC schools) we were poached by Big Ten teams the past few weeks. Fortunately we haven't had to scramble for recruits like last year, most of our verbals came in the fall and now we're focusing on the Class of 2017 (dozens of players in attendance at the Miami-Ball State basketball game last Saturday).

Miami's best class in a long time if they all sign. Still not as good as WMU's though. 05-stirthepot

Anywho...our class looks pretty good. On paper, I don't think they look as good as the 2014 class but upon further inspection you'll see some serious playmakers. Something like half of our class could technically be classified as "athletes", capable of playing multiple positions at the next level. That seems to be Fleck's approach though. Recruit the athletes, the guys with the raw strength and speed, and let them fall into place when they get here. That's certainly the feeling I get from this class.

Toledo may be taking a huge blow tomorrow morning and throughout the day with the P5 schools coming in and taking our commits last minute as 'back-up plans.' I really hope not, I'm pretty sick of all this crap since it's lhappening to it seems like every MAC school.

RE: Signing day thread
I'll try to find the quote from USA Today, but there is a move on to get a 3-day signing period, mid-December. (I'm not talking of the early signing for early admits).

Coaches are tired of having to 're-recruit' and try to hold on to commits through the last 6 weeks of the recruiting period.

They want: Take your official, stay committed, and sign mid-December. Recruits are signed, sealed and delivered.

RE: Signing day thread
Miami signed all of our guys who were committed going into today, we also added a TE who decommitted from CMU after Enos left. Gems of the class appear to be McMullen and QB Billy Bahl (offers from Rutgers, UConn, 8 MAC schools, Wyoming, Illinois State). Only 5 of 23 are from Ohio and only 7 of 23 from Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois, 7 of 23 come from south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Any surprises, + / - , where recruits flipped, new recruits signed but hadn't been on the radar, etc.

Our only surprise so far is Danny Annee, who apparently was offered by Ball State.

Toledo lost Jessie Bates to Wake Forest, which sucks. But made up for it by adding Aaron Covington, who had a ton of offers. His brother currently plays for Toledo which may have helped.

Also held on to Darrion Landry, even with Texas Tech coming on hard and offering him last night. May be our top recruit. Campbell says he will be an instant playmaker.

RE: Signing day thread
We also pulled the #40 JUCO in the nation..

http://www.ubbullrun.com/2015/2/4/797628...nsas-state

Name Torey Hendrick

School ASA College
Position DE
Ratings
Offers Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, FSU, Arizona State,

Apparently Iowa fell through because he was one credit short of being ready to play this spring, thats a "thing" for their coach.

Buffalo did very well on the defensive line which is huge considering we are going to a 4-3. Not a lot of linebackers pulled outside of a couple of preferred walk ons.

We did fine and will others, who follow recruiting comment. We had 17 commitments and signed 20 plus 7 spring early enrollments, 2 count towards 2014. The best new pickup is Sam Franklin.

From Australia, Hawaii, California, Arizona, Texas across the south through Florida up to New England and oh, Ohio as well. National recruiting.

Daniel Malone article with stars, 22 out of 27.

Of course season tickets are going on.

Everyone knows Scout is pure garbage. Nobody considers them with any relevance. Rivals and 247 Sports are where you get real recruiting coverage. Here you go:

It's pretty clear that BG had the best recruiting class in the MAC this year.

Sorry.

BG #5 in the MAC and #91 nationally, according to Rivals. Finished behind WMU, NIU, Miami and (of course) Toledo. Link
