I'll say it and it doesn't matter who agrees or disagrees...

Zach Randolph is crossing into rarefied air when it comes to the history of basketball in the city of Memphis. He means as much as the greatest names in Tiger history, and when the Grizzlies do finally win their first title come June, there can be no debating that fact.

I totally agree. In fact, if this Grizzlies team brings the first championship to the city, the Core Four (Zach, Marc, Mike, and Tony) immediately achieve "legend" status and people 30 years from now will talk about how great those guys were.

I love ZBo, but I think Anfernee Hardaway and Larry Finch would like to have a word with you.

Still don't see them as equals, but in deference to the fact that ZBo is incredible, I'll agree that the point is worthy of consideration...

04-cheers

RE: Zach Randolph: Memphis' Son
With the state of both programs as they stand now, if the Grizz happen to deliver a title this year, I believe the 'core 4' would indeed ascend to legendary status above the local college heroes. I'm not sure it would last forever, but for several years at least, a NBA championship would trump anything the home-grown Tigers were ever able to accomplish. The Grizzlies have been here long enough to establish a 'this team is ours' mentality.

Even if they don't win a championship, the "core four" should have their numbers retired. What they have done for professional basketball in this city, and for the community, has been incredible.

Those four should have their jerseys retired one day in the rafters. Those guys will always be Grizzlies legends
