Oh yeah, annual season ticket holder and EC member. I'm terrible. Quit blaming fans because some of us don't share your opinions.

9 3 stars (247)? Yeah, not too bad at all. I'd be extremely happy with 9 3 star guys.

Schrimser and Green are probably the studs of the freshman class. Most others will be developmental.

is Monk filling your class up with Juco?
Yeah, and I think that is the right strategy. The talent in the class is with the JuCo signees and we need players who can play now, especially on the OL and every position on defense.
The incoming freshmen have very little talent, at least on paper and film. But like I said, Southern Miss is a damn tough sell at this point. We have to start winning consistently before talented high school players will begin to consider us again.
We had to take in some Jucos on the O and D-line early when Doc took over. If done right (not excessive) Jucos can be positive additions.

Negative has been reality of late. When something positive happens, I'll be positive.

RE: Recruiting/Signing Day Thread
My "favorite" part of signing day is the comments from the head coach of each school. Their comments to the media are always along the line of "We feel like we have a great class. We've got guys that can run, jump, pass, catch, tackle, block, kick, punt...etc, etc, etc". I would once like to hear the coach's honest opinion where he says "we got killed on the recruiting trail this year. We ended up with a bunch of leftovers that nobody wanted because they can't do much of anything and we'll be lucky if we can win 4 or 5 games this year." I realize this is NEVER going to happen in public but you wonder if this is actually said behind closed doors with the coaching staff

If Monk has one thing going for him with some of our fan base, it's his 'candor'.....
he doesn't, nor will he, pull punches....
we are losing right now leading into tomorrow.....it's last year all over again....
I guarantee he will say the words necessary tomorrow.....what else should one want?

I'm not arguing that one bit. A school wants it's coach to do everything it can to build excitement for ticket sales and such.

Been an ugly past two weeks on the recruiting trail for us. We cannot afford any surprises tomorrow like we had last year.

What are you basing this on? Nothing much has happened over the past two weeks that wasn't expected. We had 28 commitments and only have room for 22-23.

Dillon, Harris, and Furlow were probably three of our top recruits.
Losing good players is ugly, no matter why they were lost. Especially in need areas like OL and LB.
It's not like we aren't still getting commits, so obviously there is room. We got one over the weekend, Southern Miss being his only offer/school that garnered interest.
Losing a player with potential like Joe Dillon and replacing him with a kid that hasn't been recruited by anyone....yes, I consider that pretty ugly.

RE: Recruiting/Signing Day Thread
We have "lost" players who didn't live up to their side of the bargain, or left because they think they wouldn't get playing time at USM. We will replace them with kids who want to be here or are not scared of competition. Has been ugly to half empty kind of fans, been great to those who look at things positively and look forward to the future.

So, who are your standout, impact players from this class? I expect a long list considering.
Have an opinion rather than sitting back complaining about everyone else's.

And as I say that, a kid flipped from USA to USM. Will likely play receiver. Apparently we are not full yet. We have room.

You can't always believe the offer lists on recruiting sites. I heard that Gunn also had offers from S Alabama and Troy.
