Kent State @ Western Michigan
Western Michigan is 13-8, 4-4 in the Mid American Conference and losers of 3 straight games. This is a big road game for the Golden Flashes.

*A win erases the memory of an ugly road loss at UB & gives KSU a road trip split.

*A win not only moves KSU to 7-2, but it drops loss #5 on Western. I am sure the rest of the league would like to see Western Michigan on the outside of the top 4 looking in come March.

Western Michigan is led by 6'4 graduate student David Brown. The steady veteran averages 15.7 points per game. Get lazy on defense like you did in Buffalo, and Brown is going to give you problems. 6'6 junior Connar Tava averages 14 per night on 54% shooting. Tava is also the teams leading rebounder.

6'6 sophomore Tucker Haymond and 6'10 freshman Drake Lamont are also Broncos to watch. Hard to make a prediction for this one. But I'll buy into the idea that they won't let it happen again.

Kent State 59
WMU 53

I believe this game to be very important. Of course we are still in first, but this game will show the character of our team, if we have it. WMU will give us their best shot and they are good enough with 4 starters back from the championship team of last year. Team character is usually a function of senior leadership. The last game really diminished my expectations, at least temporarily. I am not off the band wagon by any means, but I did not expect to see our three seniors collapse in the same game. I would expect that on off nights, and we all have them, that our depth would at least call for one player to shine. Let us see how it goes tonight and hopefully we will pull a Julian Edelman on them.

Better bring it tonight. Connor Tava is all effort. Guy doesn't look like a basketball player but he puts up numbers which tells me he has heart and toughness. Brown is Brown. Good and steady. Half ass it tonight and they will break their losing streak at our expense.

** Now we have been handed a loaded deck. Jimmy Hall is out for a while. Diagnosed with mono. **

I just heard he is out at least until the MAC tournament. What a bummer. We are now last years team so there is no margin of error.

That is not true. It could be 1-2 weeks or could be season ending. They don't know yet.

Jimmy Hall out with Mono - that'll cost a few wins. I was hoping he'd make 1st team MAC, but that might be out of the question now too.

I guess we'll see Raasean Davis get some experience, Spicer will get more minutes, and Marquis will have to step up.

Lawrence can't play defense without using his hands and fouling. I think it will have to be Ortiz who steps it up.

Leading scorer, Hall, is out. Second leading scorer, Manley, with two early fouls. We might be in for a really ugly game offensively.

I would really enjoy not seeing Spicer miss another dunk. I'm maxed out on them.

Shooting 28.6% in the first half, bench is 1-11, and we're up 1? I'll take it.

20 3 point attempts in the first half... geez not even attempting to get it inside with Hall out.

Spicer is showing why he doesn't get a lot of second-half minutes

What are we doing? Up one with it with 1:05 to go and we run the shot clock all the way down then air ball a 3. Why not try for a 2 for one by shooting with about 45 seconds left? Couldn't have come away with a worse look.

Rare to see a college team with a foul to burn at the end of both halves...

Ortiz threw this game. He had WMU -4. Sickening ending.
