RE: Southaven Safety Reed flips to NE
Flipped to Nebraska. Big loss for us. Second major casualty inclusive of DB Jordan Burton, who flipped to OSU. I foresaw Reed plaing FS or growing into a LB. Both of these players were clearly high level D1-A athletes and were long time Tiger commits. Both positions were a high area of need, due to graduation rates. They would have each seen the field from Day 1. Doubt we can replace at same level, before Wed. Maybe the staff can put full court press on DB Kitchens out of South Panola, who is committed to La Tech (may be due to grades?).

Player Profiles:

DB Reed

And the heat. Nothing is worse than Nebraska in the end of summer and beginning of fall. Plus, the tornadoes. They are around during this time.

He will be recruited over after next season gets here. After all it's big time football at Nebraska and they will get big time players next year.

We can live without Reed. I can bet we will have some surprises sign with us on signing day.

Again very sad Reed decommited. Hope he is savvy enough to see talent, numbers Nebraska has signed at OLB, Corner, and Safety from '13 class forward. Pretty stacked at these positions and will continue to bring in elite talent. Is it more important to play at a major BCS for 1 or 2 seasons or rising mid major and play 3-4yrs. Only the recruit can answer that.

I actually think Reed can play with any recruit they bring in. Which is why I was thrilled he was committed to the tigers. Too bad.

The thing is he isn't even a priority. The guys who are haven't committed yet. He will be upset when he recognizes the depth in front of him.

NE is still working the scene pretty hard. The 4 following are all higher priorities and could commit to Huskers. Would hate for the music to stop and Reed to be left empty handed. It happens all the time.

LB Terez Hall
LB Adrienne Talan
LB Angelo Garbutt
DB Sean Harper Jr.

Yep those are the higher priorities and Nebraska has a good chance at getting 2/4 or 3/4

This was posted on NE recruiting report:

When he left Lincoln on Sunday morning he received a Nebraska offer and informed the Memphis coaching staff he'd officially committed to the Huskers.
"Memphis pretty much understood, because it's Nebraska," Reed said. "Nebraska is big time football and the Blackshirts are known for playing great defense. It was a pretty easy decision for me to switch."

Winning will change that perception over time.

I wonder if they end up signing those guys if there's a chance he flips back.

I have never understood why a player from the South would want to play in a place like Nebraska where you are surely going to freeze your arse off. I only make my business trips to Chicago in the summer....never in the winter because I have a choice. So do they.
