No offense, but I wouldn't watch them if they played across the street. Never had any interest in professional sports (especially the NBA) other than an occasional Redbirds game. Never even watch the Super Bowl. High school and college athletics are more than enough spectator sports for me.
Keeps my city in the national spotlight. The team reps my city, brings exposure to my city. If anyone loves Memphis, they would care.

hmmm, you'd be surprised then if you camp out here much
I know what you mean. Too many Memphians with an inferiority complex; they can't believe a pro team will actually be around for the foreseeable future and is actually good for the city. We can't handle too much positivity.
It really has nothing to do with an inferiority complex.
Some people don't like professional sports. I grew up watching the big 3 and can't tell you the last time I watched a professional game. It's all turned into garbage. I grew up playing competitive sports all over the country and played college baseball. I'm with GA, much rather watch a high school or college (fill in the blank sport).
Disagree with the garbage part. It's just a matter of opinion. If we want to watch the best skilled players in any sport they are in the professional arena.

I agree that there are too many here with an inferiority complex - that's the reason so many can't handle losing like an adult instead of a spoiled child. As long as there are tens of thousands living here who support SEC schools and/or the Grizzlies, while giving little or no support to the university, my conscience will remain clear in having absolutely no interest in the NBA. I do agree that they are a good thing for the city as long as they do not harm the university, which (1) was here first and (2) is far more important in many ways.
University was here before the Grizz and will always have a passionate fan base. For me personally, the city of Memphis is more dear to me and her people. The University, its education and its athletics are an integral part of the city similar to the Grizz, FedEx's presence, etc. As a Memphian, I root for anything that is good for Memphis. And some Memphians do have an inferiority complex...that can't be denied.

Exactly, and his opinion is to watch something other than professional sports so trying to make his opinion into something it's not is quite lame.

We try to attend a few each season (first time this year). Unfortunately, we lost in a close game after a hard-fought comeback attempt, but it was fun to watch. They play their hearts out.
Any of you ever go? Good wholesome atmosphere, intensity and level of play is good and the price (like baseball) is a bargain. Stopped at Cafe Eclectic for chocolate fudge brownies ala mode afterwards. Made for a pleasant Saturday afternoon.
The "wife" is gonna get you ! ! !

I know where a player is flying under the radar they need to take a look at. Big time not playing HS ball but church league, girl is super smooth and best girl player I've seen. I coached about 5 years myself and I'm telling you this girl is amazing..She is a one girl wrecking crew, lightning fast, plays like a man, heck better, she is fundamentally sound.
