RE: Southwest Gives Memphis Love Field Flights
It should be in April.
These are nonstop to DAL.
Southwest subleased United's two gates, that makes up for the two they didn't get from AA when the Feds awarded them to Virgin America instead last summer. Southwest had said if they got those, Memphis was on the list. They got them in another way and MEM was announced from the get go, some other cities will be named later.
If you haven't been following the LUV saga, Delta is being forced out, at least that appears to be the case, Oh, they still have flights to AA dominated DWF but Delta wants those direct to Atlanta they fly from there cause of their popularity. I find it funny, that Memphis is getting some of Southwest action and it's giving Delta a headache.
I don't fly enough to give two squirts with all the rewards stuff, as it's all leisure for me. Folks bitching about Southwest prices I don't get. When I booked our trip to Florida out of MEM serveral months back for an upcoming trip in Feb. to Orlando, I got Southwest nonstop tickets for nearly 500 dollars less for my family of 4 than the Delta nonstop flights on the same days. Flying to Orlando, direct, for 4, well under a $1,000, hell yeah. That said, its not as cheap as Allegiant out of XNA but its daily, not just a couple of days a week, there's no baggage games with Southwest. 2 free checked bags per ticket and free carry on and personal item. You see what happened, Southwest is adding a second nonstop to Orlando is peak months and Delta tucked tail and retreated to a Sat only nonstop.
Now, I wish Southwest will give Memphis a nonstop to Fort Lauderdale for cruises and travel to Caribbean when Southwest's International Terminal is done. I wish to see a nonstop to one of the non LAX LA fields and/or a Bay area flight to Oakland. I would love to see a buuny hop service with Memphis in the middle between Stl and NO.
You can fly dirt cheap on Spirit from Dallas, love to see them in Memphis as well, Shocked Allegiant hasn't shown up.
