UC vs. University of Miami set for Thursday, 10/1
The ACC has released its schedule. Our tilt against Miami next year will be a Thursday night game (October 1st). I am guessing it will be on ESPN or ESPN2.

The ACC website still has it yet to be determined . October 1st or 3rd.

http://www.theacc.com/page/2015-acc-foot...m-schedule

While a Miami news site says Oct 1st

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami...story.html

Not sure which I prefer... Thursday nights at Nippert are epic ...yet it is a Thursday .

I'd rather have marquee opponents on a Thursday than no-name state. Nippert will be packed.

What's the overflow? How big of a crowd can you pack into the new nip? Didn't we break 40k in the old nippert? Could we possibly break 45k in the new?

Unless the Saturday game is guaranteed to be at night, which I doubt would be the case, I'd much rather it be a Thursday night game. Even if it were guaranteed to be a Saturday night game I think I'd prefer it be Thursday because it will be the showcase college game in that time slot as opposed to one of bunch of games going on throughout the day.

Agreed. A nooner on Saturday would be bloody awful. Students would still be in bed-- us suburban dwellers would be taking their kids to soccer. The folks watching at home would have to watch it on ESPN U with Beth Mowins and the latest player turned ESPN announcer calling the game. A 3:30 Saturday game would be better but would still not the electricity that a night game would bring.

A Thursday night will give us more national publicity than a Saturday game. A great way to showcase the new Nippert.

The record in old Nip I believe is 36,007 during that scorching hot opener in 2013 vs Purdue where we won like 40-7.

I've heard Tubs once say 45k, but I think months later, approx. 40k was confirmed. Tubs has been known to stretch numbers too, so I bet we max out around 40k.

Prob max out at 40k and change officially. I was told, unofficially, we hit 40k for the UC/marshall game. They did not announce the true number due to fire code? Can anyone confirm that.

You can write it down now--that crowd for Miami (FL) will be announced as something more than 40K. Unless UC encounters a ranked AAC team later this season in Nippert, this will be the headliner. The goal should be to sell it out months (at least weeks) in advance and try to channel excess demand to other games.

Unlike some schools in the boonies, even the new Nippert won't fill itself. UC must stay creative with special group invitations/pricing, a Tommy T bobblehead night or who knows what else to generate some buzz for what should be a very good season.

Oops. Bruce. They just moved it to a Friday night game. You must have really pissed someone off in Dayton this past week.

Never do. But with the game on Thursday night, I am expecting a large portion of the UC band to be sleeping on the floors of my house Friday and Saturday night.

Should be fun!

No and no.

Largest crowd was on August 31, 2013 when the Bearcats hosted Purdue with a record crowd of 36,007.

I'd guess they may be able to get about 42K in there now with SRO.

It's been gone over many times before and this has been debated, but nobody will ever convince me UC's largest crowd wasn't the UC/Marshall game from 2007. There were very few open seats anywhere and it was the last game ever they let students get in with just their ID. The student sections were overflowing... you couldn't walk down the aisles. And the top above the student section was always full. I will never believe the reported attendance from that night was correct and I don't know how you could get more people in the stadium.

You are absolutely correct. The student section was full 2 or 3 deep all the way to the top and it was packed standing room only all around the concourses
