Not happy with Wake's home schedule. As an out-of-towner living 2 hours away and the 6 game home schedule including a Thursday night opener vs Elon and a Friday night game vs Louisville, I will have to seriously consider whether or not I will purchase season tix this year. Guess I'll start asking friends in Winston-Salem whether they'd want my pair of tix for those games.

That's why vacation days can be taken one at a time...
Really, if you're only 2 hours away, couldn't you make the Friday game after work?
So we're only talking about taking off the day after the Thursday game, right?

Can't say I'm too pleased w/ Pitt's schedule either. Got the first five of seven on the road and a hell of a grind in November to boot. It is what it is and Pitt's going to have to step it up fo sho.

It's partially Steve's fault for scheduling that BS game @Akron

That's not a bad schedule, Card fans! September should be pretty awesome. October looks like a big road trip, but there is a 3-out-of-4 stretch of home games before the two very driveable away games to close out the season.

So we're only talking about taking off the day after the Thursday game, right?

I work till 5:30 pm and am near downtown. Traffic on Fridays getting through Raleigh and past Chapel Hill/Durham with rush hour plus HS game traffic would take an hour itself, adding another half hour to the drive. Earliest arrival in W-S would likely be 8:00, and likely after kickoff. Would probably not arrive home until 1:30 or so. NC State has a home game the next day. If it is a nooner, we'd want to start tailgating by 8 am.

That is 2 very long days. I'd almost prefer doing 2 games on the same day like we've done several times in the past (most recently in 2011, State/UNC at noon, Wake/ND at 8 pm - stay overnight in W-S).

If the Thursday game was a better team, I might consider taking vacation. Did that this year for the Thursday game vs. FSU. Took half day Thursday, was able to tailgate before the game, stayed overnight, took Friday off.

Oh well, we'll start discussing tailgate season with our Wake tailgate crew soon & see what happens.

RE: 2015 ACC Schedule is out!
So my immediate thoughts:

- Hey look, somebody in the ACC realized having GT play Miami and VT first thing make the Coastal "race" rather boring. Having those games late makes sense.
- Two Thursday games is BS
- UGAg scheduled Georgia Southern the week before they play Georgia Tech. I have a feeling they think that is smart ... but I suspect it will actually backfire. Teams who beat GT typically have a TERRIBLE win/loss record the week after. Would Richt be able to survive losing to Georgia Southern and then Georgia Tech to end the year? I don't think so. Oh wow that is my dream now. To hear all the crying over UGAg being third best in the state of GA.
- This is the first time I can remember where 2 out of 3 of VT/UNC/Duke didn't have a bye before playing GT. VT gets a bye anyway b/c it is a Thursday game. I'm sure Beamer cried no Thursday games to force it on GT and pick up the mandatory bye in the process.

Interesting point brought up by a poster on the Wake sports board:

Quote:The Bye Week deal is crap. Only 5 ACC teams face an ACC opponent that had a Bye Week immediately preceding their game. Of those, FSU/Pitt/GT have one a piece, and Wake and VT have 3 each. Statistically, that should be close to impossible

Nice to see somebody other than GT getting the "triple option bye" treatment we've had for the last several years.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...5-opponent

On Thursday, the ACC released its entire 2015 schedule. The league will play 12 nonconference teams ranked in ESPN's Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings, more than double the number of any other Power 5 league. In 2015, the ACC also plays 38 percent of its nonconference games against Power 5 opponents, the highest percentage of any Power 5 league.03-cloud9

That is some nice content for an ACCN.

Wake should consider it a point of pride that the league feels teams need an extra week to prepare to face the mighty Deacons. 07-coffee3

6 of our first 7 opponents were 2014 bowl teams, including the 3 ranked teams you mentioned above. Then we finish with only 1 of our final 5 opponents having made a 2014 bowl, and that 1 is 6-7 Pitt.

Based on a quick cursory glance, Georgia Tech and Miami have the most attractive schedules top-to-bottom.

From the link:

Q. Some believe that ESPN simply tells the conference what games to play and when – is that an accurate perception?

ESPN is a fantastic partner of the ACC, we are proud to be their only “all-in partner”, and we have a tremendous working relationship with their college football programming team, which is led by Ilan Ben-Hanan. It’s a treat to develop the schedule with them and each of our institutions’ scheduling point persons. But no, it is not an accurate perception that ESPN dictates to the ACC its football schedule. We try to deliver on as many of ESPN’s requests for Thursday, Friday, and prime Saturday dates as we can, just as we do for our member institutions’ requests, while protecting foremost the on-the-field competitive equity of the schedule. It is fair to say we deliver on about the same percentage of TV’s requests as we do with those that come from our institutions.

Great stuff in that link. Seems like the whole conference is trying to help VT to get back to what they were. If you include ESPN as an ACC member, we are at 16.

Whomever wins the starting QB job they better be ready game 1! There wont be time for a breaking in period.
