OT: Three observations on the passing scene
Just some peeves from the current news, LOL:

1) Why are some people so intent on proving that Chris Kyle is a liar about some things? So what if he never shot 30 looters from the roof of the Super Dome after Hurricane Katrina? He did have 160 *confirmed* enemy kills as a sniper in Iraq, and that makes him a bona-fide American hero, no matter what other tall tales he has told.

2) Does Robert Kraft have chutzpah or what? Asking that the NFL apologize if they can't prove exactly which Patriots official deflated the balls and how. The Patriots were caught using underinflated balls, that puts the burden of proof on them to explain the hows and wherefores if they want to be exonerated. It's like if I'm playing a poker game and an extra ace falls out my sleeve: Can i credibly say to the other players "Hey! Someone else could have put it there when I wasn't looking! Or maybe the air conditioning blew the ace up my sleeve! If you can't prove I put it there, then you owe me an apology and I get to keep my money!" Ridiculous.

3) Why are some whining about Tom Petty making sure he (and ELO's Jeff Lynne) got added as songwriters to Sam Smith's massive hit "Stay with Me due to its resemblance to Petty's "I won't back down"? Slate magazine disparages Petty by saying his song is so simple it's almost impossible for others not to use its chord progression, and the NY Daily News says the songs are so dissimilar that Petty was crass to threaten legal action. Actually, Petty was quite kind: He didn't insist that Smith be eliminated as a songwriter, only that he and Lynne be added as co-writers. And let's face it, the songs ARE in fact very similar. If you want an example of rock legends being a dick to a new artist, recall Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who insisted that the Verve give them 100% writing credit for their smash "bittersweet symphony", despite that song sounding very little like the Stone's "Last Time", which it took just a nick from. But you can't criticize those guys, no.

1) Anyone that has never told a fib, please step forward.

2) I'm not an NFL or Pats fan, but they are innocent until proven guilty.

3) Huh?

My card game example debunks this. The Patriots were caught using illegal footballs, so the burden is on them to prove they were framed, etc.

And this is not the first such controversy involving New England either. So they've all benefit of the doubt in the court of public opinion.

Fool me once, you know.
