Nichols a beast!
He should touch the ball every time down the court. I wouldn't take austin or markel out they are our best players. Hawkins shouldn't get any run guy is not a division one player. Austin keeps killing these guys though. Great game by him Markel and Woodson. King is showing what he can do when he gets mins too.

You realize that the other teams play defense, right? Agree on Markel, his upside is tremendous.

I like the way Nichols doesn't give up on plays on either side. He has soft hands and a nice hook shot and developing midrange shot. If his outside game develops - lookout. Great bball IQ.
Grabbing him may have been one of pastner's biggest coups.

Actually it's one of Austin's mom's biggest coups.

Eh...
Would have to give Wright and Henderson the nod before Austin.

Before all the comparisons are made, lets give him all his time here. He is getting better every game. If he had the supporting cast that Keith Lee had, his game would be much further down the road and compare very well to Lee. Good hands, excellent BB IQ, soft touch on his shot, always around the ball. While Keith's wingspan cannot be equalled, there are many other favorable comparisons. The best is yet to come for Austin, who I believe will end up one of the all time greats for the program

Just to clarify one of your statements: "If he had the supporting cast and coaching that Keith Lee had, his game would be much further down the road and compare very well to Lee".
In spite of his faults, there's no denying that Kirk was one heck of a BB coach.

Austin's hands have gotten softer in his time at Memphis. The extra bulk helps him, and doesn't appear to have slowed him down or hurt his leaping ability. His jumper looks great. He's got footwork and body control that kinda remind me of McHale. Get him shooting 75% from the line, and, well, you know.

Austin will not get drafted high right now...That is not a knock on Austin, just the way the league works.
3 guys at UK, Harrell at UL, Okafor at Duke, Kaminsky, Kennedy at SMU, Meeks at UNC will all likely be better prospects in the league than Austin (and I am sure I missed a bunch).

Nichols, Crawford and Burrell should stay on the floor until they ask to come out. Go with whoever is having the best game at PG, and then play whoever among Shaq, Godfrey and King appears most interested that night.

Completely agree but include Shaq, seen him play too many good games to make him a role guy like Godfrey. I would start Kedren as a lesser of 3 evils, and have King, Woodson and Pookie as back ups and others play in blowouts.

Lorenzen Wright...
He was a total BEAST in college... Just FEARLESS as a scrawny freshman... Once he put on weight, his sophomore season was stellar.

I am pleased that Kedren finally is coming around, but dang, when exactly is he going to lose the weight? I watched him leap cover an inbounds pass last night. Couldn't jump over a Memphis phone book.

Ren was more athletic, but Austin is a better shooter and distributor of the ball.
