Montgomery Advertiser: UAB ending football still hurts Woodfin
http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/stor.../22467339/

Quote:Zac Woodfin is a head strength and conditioning coach, not a fortune teller, but he saw a very bright future for UAB football.

“I have no doubt what would have happened,” Woodfin said. “We would have contended for a Conference USA championship. We had huge, huge senior class coming up. Very talented. We had a great recruiting class coming in. We were one year in. Guys knew what to expect. We were making gains in every area. We would have been bowl eligible with eight or nine wins. UAB was on the up and up.”

If you read that article from the point of view of the junta that runs the BOT and the UA System, one can see clearly how loudly the alarm bells were going off in their heads. Just as a 6-6 season gave them their shot at Mike Shula (delay and you risk a better season next year making it harder to fire him later), our 6-6 season suggested an impending improvement of great strength so that killing the program might be nearly impossible if not done immediately.

Every indication seemed to point to a possible bowl game season in 2015 making their assault on UAB football more and more obvious for what it actually was - the desire to maintain the UA system as a one football team system. "Thou shalt not have any team but the Crimson Tide"

Not tryna be a smart a** but Shula went 10-2 the year before and got worse the next year.
On Another note I know Justin Craft and the Football foundation did a good job of uncovering this. But I wonder when did the coaches start to put the pieces together and to notice something wasn't adding up?
