What I’m seeing now with Josh supporters are fans that care more about the wellbeing of the coach rather than the wellbeing of the program.

He's a better coach now than he was when we hired him, after gaining valuable experience at the program's expense. He WON'T be fired this year and he will probably have a lot of success next year. At that point, if I were him, I would leave for another school. Too many people here already have their minds irreversibly made up that he can't coach. Those who think I am overly concerned with his well-being, don't know me very well. My chief concern is always the welfare of the university overall.

I happen to think that anything they say is largely irrelevant, so there is no dichotomy.
yep, everyday they just holler and the normal chorus chimes in.
i would never know what any of them ever said if their opinions weren't proselytized here (complete with links and summaries) on a daily basis. if i realy cared i would subscribe or listen. rarely do i consider their opinions anything but springer sensationalism to sell their product to the lowest common denominator. occasionally they stumble into an original thought or provide new information. i dont need their musings. filtering legitimate news becomes increasingly difficult as time passes while they consider themselves artisans of commentary wit.
it does trouble me that they have so many that hang on their every word or observation because ultimately they dont give two shites about the university. i guess it will never change doe, snicker.
Were you upset when Chizik got canned? Two years removed from winning a NC?

Bingo!!!!
There's that and two more recycled replies:
1) "He was the only one who would take the job."
or
2) "We aren't going to get a name coach, just some mid-major level head coach."
Um, as to #1: Ok, Even taking that to be true, WGAS? Hell, I would have taken the job if RC offered me. Especially for $1MM a year.
As to #2, again, WGAS?
If the concern is the person IN PLACE isn't getting the job done, you don't (correct me for those who run businesses) NOT get rid of someone who can't get the job done just because you are worried about who can replace him.
Now, if the argument is that the coach is still doing a good job, has a handle on the situation and has a vision and promise for the future then you keep him.

The problem is Bowen is between a rock and a hard place. You better have that home run hire signed up BEFORE you let go of Josh and have the Lawson's locked in. Otherwise, you are better off keeping Josh and I think we would have fighting chance of S16 run with key players staying and the Lawson's coming in.
You would probably lose only one year of Donor revenue under that scenario.
hasn't this been the expectation since at least pastner's third year? hasn't materialized yet, and the majority opinion is that the lawsons aren't enough to put us over the hump. talent/players aren't the problem.

For 2.6 mil a year we could pay 1 assistant 1mil to recruit, another one 1mil to be an X and O guy and take the other 600K and hire the assistant pastor at Bellevue or Hope Church to be the face and go visit the sick folks and the kids. Then we could give the Lawson guy the entire other assistants salary or else spread it out for football. We probably wouldn't be any worse off than what we got now.

No new news there.
That ups a shame but in this society, understandable.
The narrative that they are turning their backs because Pastner is not a good coach is the runaway narrative that is gobbled up. He is a good coach.
You can stop it right there.
Not only is Pastner not a good coach he is a bad coach. Bad as in Tic Price bad. Now that I think about it Tic could probably have done more with Josh’s teams.
Even his teams didn’t run the same play over and over again.
Fair enough- you believe he is a bad coach.
I do not.
Have not heard before that you believe he is a bad coach though thanks for clarifying and being respectful of those who believe he is (while getting he is not great).
And any perceived disrespect is not aimed at those who express opinions about coaching quality...but those who mock, bait and semi publicly offer nasty ugly sentiment.
And you know it.
Bully away folks.
Mods- you lost it. This site is now like that one that the oh so cutes established- allowed that community to post anything (no one is against critique or opinion) and it became a toxic swill that closed.

Not a surprise.
Because no one is objecting to the expressed criticism, just the over the top mocking...and you know it.
And it is beautiful to see those who mock bait and bully whine so incredibly quickly when another opinion is thrown tehre way.
Right on Q. Disagree with Mimi and you're a bully and not a real Tiger fan. When one constantly refers to others as bullies, over and over again, who then is the real bully. Check yourself Mimi, you aren't the only one who loves the Tigers.

Fine you find Geoff Calkins irrelevant, but the issue is whether the information is relevant. Fred Blose is clearly real, so we have to believe that he means what he says. Are you suggesting that the article is irrelevant because Fred Blose represents a minority viewpoint? DO you see this viewpoint growing? And isn't part of the job of the head coach to keep excitement up in the program?

Exactly.
You can dog out journalists.
Throw players under the bus.
Dis certain segments of the fanbase.
Doesn't change the fact that what is going on is real.
