MyBB What Happens When Tiger Fans Give Up ?
Geoff Calkins ... Speaks to the increasing apathy and 'empty seats'.

Link: http://www.commercialappeal.com/sports/c...p_42208352

Samples:

"We’re not relevant,” he said. “We don’t even compete in a lot of big games. And Josh (Pastner), I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but he talks to us like we’re idiots, like we don’t know basketball.”

"... is it unreasonable for Memphis fans to think the program should be able to get to a Sweet 16 in six years under a head coach? Is it unreasonable for Memphis fans to think something is wrong with a program that routinely gets smashed by double digits on national TV?"

I have generally tried to point out problems where I see them and the positive when pastner is deserving of praise. This is one of my biggest issues with pastner.

OK. So I tend to see the best people can be, and sometimes it backfires ... but hey, so what.

Maybe, just maybe, Calkins is one of the few Memphis media folks who has the best interests of our Tigers BB at heart....?

That's not saying he (or anyone else) knows what those best interests are. shrug.

As far as donning the red and black goes, some folks have already donned the orange and white or the red and blue, but that doesn't stop them from hanging out here. So we're stuck with these guys. 03-lmfao and they are stuck with us.

RE: What Happens When Tiger Fans Give Up ?
Bowen DOES need to read it. I posted how lost revenue from lower level season tickets would pay for JPs salary and a home run hire ($3M a year) if handled correctly.

The problem is Bowen is between a rock and a hard place. You better have that home run hire signed up BEFORE you let go of Josh and have the Lawson's locked in. Otherwise, you are better off keeping Josh and I think we would have fighting chance of S16 run with key players staying and the Lawson's coming in.

You would probably lose only one year of Donor revenue under that scenario.

What Happens When Tiger Fans Give Up ?
Read Calkins Twitter feed. After he posted this article he found out Pastner just visited a fan who's in hospice. This is so tough. Here's a really good man, a genuinely good person who does a lot of good in this world but is not a good coach yet. I really hope this thing turns around. My hunch is he'll get another season and hopefully something clicks, and we see significant improvement.
