“@zach_greenwell: No decision coming on UAB, but that could pick up again at the C-USA spring meetings in May in Destin, Fla.”

“@zach_greenwell: #WKU AD Todd Stewart attended C-USA winter meetings this week. League ADs, presidents heard from UAB about future in the conference.”

“@zach_greenwell: Stewart on UAB: "They would very much like to stay in the conference." Should an opening occur, ADs made aware many teams have interest.”

Sounds like the presidents are waiting the results of the task force.

BINGO

I think Watts and Co. are legitimately trying to figure out a way to bring football back and keep their jobs. The backlash they've received was not what they expected.

Zach Greenwell @zach_greenwell
...#WKU AD Todd Stewart attended C-USA winter meetings this week. League ADs, presidents heard from UAB about future in the conference.
...No decision coming on UAB, but that could pick up again at the C-USA spring meetings in May in Destin, Fla.
...Stewart on UAB: "They would very much like to stay in the conference." Should an opening occur, ADs made aware many teams have interest.
...Stewart said C-USA not determined to add a 14th team if an opening occurs. League would want "to add value" and not just for sake of adding.
...Stewart said 2015 Conference USA schedule should be released within a week. Will be similar to last year with an unbalanced league again.
...Stewart said Conference USA may be adding a sixth primary bowl tie-in, in addition to one backup. #WKU
...Boca Raton and Hawaii will rotate out as Conference USA bowl sites in 2016, Stewart said. St. Petersburg and New Orleans will rotate in.
...Stewart said no firm decisions made, but said it was pretty much unanimous C-USA support for paying cost of attendance that NCAA approved.
...Stewart said C-USA will "need to really dive deep over the next few months and decide what we can do and when we can start doing it."
...Stewart also said there was some limited discussion on rules to host C-USA hoops tourney that require two courts to host simultaneously.
...Stewart there was open dialogue about changing that and concepts - including hosting men's, women's tourneys at different times/locations.
...Outside of neutral sites, those requirements really only allow UTEP and UAB to get involved in the hoops tournament bid process.

...Stewart: "That requirement really prohibits us from putting a bid in on it, along with just about everybody else in the conference." #WKU
...So lots of interesting topics discussed at C-USA winter meetings - just not a lot of action. Look for more from spring meetings in May.

So, UAB(& BHam) does have some facilities advantages...

I highly doubt they'll keep UAB just because it's a good place to have the tournament. If UAB stays, though, what's wrong with it being in Birmingham most of the time? It was in Memphis 8 of 20 times (20 tournaments including this year in Birmingham), including 5 times in a row and 6 times in 8 years.

If other schools/cities want to host it, they should step up to the plate and make the investments UAB and Birmingham have. Splitting it up and making them smaller events just continues C*USA's slide into mediocrity

Slide INTO mediocrity? CUSA has been there for years. You mean slide out of mediocrity on down further.

RE: C-USA Meeting updates
This is from the main board from WKU so it sounds a bit like this meeting was to get info out to CUSA members & then everyone go home & discuss it then the votes on the issues would be at the next meetings
