UNC v Wake non conference games?
UNC and Wake Forest have scheduled each other in a H&H non conference football series since they don't get to play each other often enough in the ACC. I don't like this, less opportunities for us to play them when they pull this crap....

RE: UNC v Wake non conference games?
I know Rice and UH did this in baseball when they were in the same conference even though they played a conference series too.
It's kind of stupid but whatever. Maybe don't make a 14 team conference if you don't want to have this problem. It will kind of stink if it keeps ECU from getting as many games against UNC as I like that series. I couldn't care less about playing Wake in football, and I'm not sure why UNC cares about playing that game either.

What a waste. Non-conference games are an opportunity to experience something different, like UConn at Missouri this year.

This is the fallout for the P5 conferences that have expanded too much. If this becomes a trend, you can expect less opportunities for G5 schools to play P5 schools.
The ACC is so jacked up with their division alignment, many of the regional rivalries are out the window. When you have 14 members you essentially have 2 seperate conferences. College football was much better with 8-10 members and round robin scheduling.
The Big 12 has the right model, they just need the ability to stage a championship or playoff game when they have co-champions.

The Big, ACC and SEC are all three 14 team conferences that will NEVER go beyond 8 conference games. I don't care what they say, they will not go to 9 or even 10--hahaha like Barry Alveraz said. They ll pull this crap and play each other every now and then in '"non-conference" games. My opinion: Ban conference teams from playing non conference football games against each other. If you want to play everyone, play in an 8, 9 or 10 team conference. College football tradition eroding before our eyes in every possible way.....

In the case of Wake, and unc. I think that it is mostly unc wants only winable games non-conference, and they try to schedule that way. Wake can handle the larger pay day from unc and also had rather lose to unc rather than ECU, APP State, etc.
ALSO, the ACC is overall a bunch of arrogant bodies that really do not understand how middle of the road the conference really is.

Ya, but we'd take an ACC invite for either of our schools in a split second....you ll get in before us just like you got in the Big East (football) before us in 04...when ECU finally got the long awaited invite they changed the name of the conference....

I agree completely with this. All of these conferences should have never expanded beyond 12 and what the Big 12 is doing really is the best way outside of WVU being on an island. I think that is why the ACC is trying to get that deregulation passed so they can get rid of the divisions and switch things up to accommodate a larger conference. I could see them doing a few regional games that don't change and then rotating among the other teams. Then you don't need to do this non-sense since regional rivalries are preserved.
