It's not difficult to understand why we're in last place.
Look at our three point shooting in conference games.
Woods 28.6%
Hagins 31.7%
Dillard 31%
Reid 30.8%
Isom 34.8%
And Hill 50%. Of course he hasn't shot many. Maybe he should shoot more. Pretty difficult to win with that sort of outside shooting. Fortunately it probably has nowhere to go but up.

And once again Isom have the best 3 point percentage and still don't have any plays run for him to get more attempts. 34% is not that good but still better than the others. Play him at the 3 just for 1 game, run him off some screens and get him at least 12 shot attempts and let's see what happens. At this point we need to do something else.

That's probably the worst in the league. But, the question to me is- is our 3 point defense still the worst in the league. That likely is a bigger issue.

I'm pretty sure I've seen him at the three occasionally on offense, but no way is any perimeter player other than Josh Hagins probably going to get 12 shots in a game the way the minutes are being divided. I'd love to see Mariek and James R. both get that many shots, but splitting up the minutes between so many players doesn't lead to anyone usually getting that many shots, unless it's an inside player like Roger.
When you're playing nearly every offensive possession against a set defense and running some clock time, and always trying to force the ball inside, it makes it difficult for the guards to take a lot of shots. Our system doesn't lead to creating stars, which, IMO, every program needs to attract fans. In the past, our potential stars have either left or been run off before they finished their careers.
Sad but true. The list is pretty long. Zack Wright, Nick Zachary, Stevie Moore, Chuckey Guy, John Gillon, and others. I'm not blaming anyone. Just stating facts. They're gone. Why? Only they and the coaches know. But it's difficult to win when your best players keep leaving.

I think Gillon is the only one to leave on his own. "Afraid of competition" based on what you speculated or heard. I guess we should never try to recruit players that might be better than who we have. Wouldn't want to hurt someone's feelings.

That makes absolutely no sense at all. Why would a guy who is "afraid of competition" leave a Mickey Mouse program and go to a much better one?

Zack Wright, Nick Zachary, Stevie Moore, Chuckey Guy
I was sad to see everyone one of those players leave. Very good players and I really don't believe any of them were "thugs". But, they apparently did cause some problems in the locker room and sometimes coaches have to make tough decisions for the sake of the "team". I think it has been suggested that being able to handle "me-first" kind of players is part of what makes a great coach. Maybe there is some truth to that. You gotta believe Calipari has had a bunch of them.

Say what you want, but Calipari has to be a miracle worker to deal with all those egos.

He just has to manage change while drawing from major perpetual talent pool that he is able to access. Amazing what people will 'suffer' when paid several million dollars
