Coach Cal
He is F'n gone. He is no longer the coach at the U of M. So will you people please move on already. This Cal envy is doing nothing positive for the school or the program. GROW UP and move on already.

RE: Coach Cal
hot tub time machine. we are back in 2009. I predict that we will get a young head coach with no previous coaching experience. He will be viewed as a progidy, but in 5.5 years the fans will become devided over his progress and splinter. MT.org will become a dysfuctional mess of posters arguing back and forth and then theer willbe a Thread titled "Coach Cal". and repeat.........

Half the threads in here mentions Cal Cal Cal. Either about how he is doing so much better at UK or how he did things different here than Pastner. I am sick of hearing his name.

You've totally opened my eyes. My "Cal Envy" is ruining the program.

I'll tell you who needs to move on. The people who refer to Calipari as "Fredo," or "Coach X," who obsess over how he stole the snow cone machine as he was "nuking the program," the people who call him cheater who's wins were vacated while simultaneously saying we got a raw deal from the NCAA because it was never "proven" that Rose cheated.

The fact of the matter is that there's a very good argument that Calipari's shadow got us out of CUSA and put us into whatever position we are in to get into another conference now. He gave us one of the best runs in school history with some of the most beloved players of the past 20 years.

The divorce was bitter no doubt. But the reality is that the only player of consequence who'd signed a NLI went to Kansas. Even if Wall and Cousins hadn't been able to go to Kentucky, they would have reopened their recruitment and gone somewhere else.

I don't think the fan base would or should ever love Calipari, but I think at some point there needs to be a reckoning when it comes to his years here. An acknowledgment that the program is probably better off for him having been here. It would have been very easy for Memphis to become another Tulsa or Southern Miss during the 00's. And that didn't happen, in large part because of his efforts here.

The pro Pastner at any cost Gang bring up Cal way more than the anti Pastner group. If I had a nickel for every time I've heard about "Cal's 5th year", Id have enough money to buy out his contract.

Actually he hurt us in one way...I enjoyed beating the snot out of UT and Ole Prius. Thanks to Cal, and now Josh...we won't schedule them for certain reasons related to recruiting.
Cal took that nonsensical scheduling idea with him, and now they don't want to play Indiana in a home and home series.
In some ways the man is a genius...in others...he is just a giant wuss.

I think you should put anyone that mentions Cal on 'ignore'.

Cheating in college sports is a pretty broad term. You can cheat within recruiting, paying players, academics, etc.

There is "cheating" at pretty much every relevant college basketball program. Cal is one of the best at getting away with it.
