Taking the kids across the country and one of our stops is in Memphis. The kids are 11 and 14. What is the best golf per dollar. Thanks in advance.

Not sure about golf but Memphis in May is a month long big deal in Memphis. There are a lot of golf courses and I'm sure someone can lead you in the right direction.

Always.....humidity makes people cray cray. It does get worse as the season progresses. For people that aren't used to it, it feels hotter. May is actually pretty nice.

Don't know about the golf, but the zoo is world-class, one of four in the u.s. with pandas. They might like to go on a riverboat, the Memphis Queen I think it is.

11 and 14 are tough ages really. Too big for little kid stuff, or I'd suggest the children's museum. There's always the Smithsonian's rock and soul museum, the Civil Rights museum, and the Stax museum.

IMHO, Civil Rights museum is a must-see.

Heat won't be a problem in May......rain could be a big problem for outside activities.

I need to give "family activities" some thought.

Zoo should be a must. It's awesome. If the Redbirds are playing in town and you like baseball, a game at Autozone Park would be great, it's the nicest minor league park in the country. Redbirds are AAA Cardinals affiliate. IF the brand new Bass Pro in the Pyramid is open, that will be a must.

Visit the Zoo, and get a meal at Overton Square afterwards.

They are right next to each other, in a great part of town.

Walk up and down Beale, watch the duck march at the Peabody, and enjoy the view from the roof.

Try Blues City Cafe on Beale's ribs, and the chicken at Gus'

As far as the best public golf, it's hard to beat Mirimichi. Justin Timberlake just sold it to the CEO of an airplane company a few months ago.

I'm all shook up nobody mentioned Graceland. That's all right as it is in the ghetto across the street from Heartbreak Hotel.

We always do different things when in Memphis. If you are interested in the history of the city/region, there are some great walking tours downtown. Seems like we got free tix through the VCB. Try stopping at rest areas before you hit town, they usually have pamphlets with discounts for food, events... If you are in town for MusicFest or BBQFest weekends, expect large crowds downtown.

Mirimichi is a great value if you don't mind driving out to Millington. It's about 20-25 minutes from Downtown.

I second the zoo. My kids love it.

I'm excited to see how the Graceland area redevelopment goes...

It looks like the Redbirds will be in town then. There is nothing more family friendly that minor league baseball and AutoZone Park is a spectacular venue. Don't forget to order BBQ Nachos if you go.
