McLean averaging 2 points per game (and a total of 24 pts all year) for UH has 8. UH is really keeping the Owls from any transition baskets and open looks for 3. Surprisingly we have gotten the ball inside repeatedly but too many times have missed the shot. Max had a nice layup going under the basket and using it as a screen something our group has talked about quite a bit this year.

Announcers remind we need less than 12 turnovers in game. Need to take care of ball.

Guercy misses a 3pter off the UH miss.

Rice 1-6 from 3pter.

Gearhart draws another charge!

Good job Seth.

Rhoades not happy with Guercy's choice of last shot. Should have moved it around a bit more.

Turnover Owls on a walk by Guercy.

Houston misses a 3pter.

Marcus on the bench a good bit down the stretch with two fouls which has really hurt.

2nd foul on UH's Barnes.

drone to the FT line

Makes them both.

owls down 17-20 with 1:15 to go 1H

Houston makes a shot 17-22 55sec left Rhoades Timeout.

Rhoades "chewing the ear off his Owls right now."

Rhoades was really unhappy the last time UH brought the ball down when we failed to trap when we had a chance.

Announcer had said that Knowles had 3, but gametracker showing he has only 2 other UH players with 2 fouls: Knowles, Rose,

and Knowles has 3 fouls now. Still in game--go after him Owls and get him another if they leave him in there 48secs left

20-22 Houston leads

Rice's lowest scoring first half if it ends right now, coming off their lowest scoring game of season against LA Tech.

Another great Max to Seth bounce pass on an inside cut (this is like the 4th game in a row for that play). 2 pts plus 1 FT to bring the score back to 20-22.

Knowles lowers his shoulder on Gearhart, but no foul called. Knowles now gets taken out by Sampson.

Owls can tie or lead with a good shot

Nope.

Knowles escaped his 3rd foul with a no call and Rice misses its final shot of the half. UH leads 22-20.

Just usual coach speak stuff. Announcer mentions they're ranked third by BA and he says that the team doesn't think about that stuff, that "he wants them to practice like they're the worst team in the nation and when the season starts, play like they're the best." Goes through their early schedule, notes Minnesota and Alabama as good teams. Mentions the pitching staff as a strength, says they have their weekend rotation back (which I thought, from other threads here, wasn't the case. Maybe he's embellishing.) and their Tuesday starter back. Says they'll figure out someone to be closer. His pick to win nat'l championship is LSU.

At least it was good for college baseball to get some recognition on a basketball broadcast.

Took a quick look at the UH baseball schedule and see somehow UH got Alabama to come to UH for 3. Really surprising to see an SEC team on the road during OOC and particular at a good team. Those games and 2 of the 3 at MM (LSU and A&M) their schedule is a little light. Home OOC series against Minnesota, Buffalo, Columbia, and at New Mexico won't help their RPI.

After a quick start with a Drone bucket the "bad" Rice shows up again with a shot clock violation and a pass that goes to the media table and 4 UH points. Jackson is being guarded close and hasn't shot much. Jackson just causes Knowles to pick up his 3rd though.
