Good Luck, and may the Joe Foley's hair be ever in your favor.

Maybe we can arrange for Shields and Brady to win an extended vacation to a far away country after the game... They both look like they need a vacation.

According to someone who has been deep inside the program, Steve likely has one more year. Good source, but I believe this could still change if the losses continue to mount.

I appreciate your candor ... although belated ... about rooting for us to lose. As for me and my house, I will never cheer for ASU to beat the Trojans .. ever ... no matter who the coach is.

I can't ever actually root against the Trojans, however sometimes it's like the old story about having mixed feelings when you see your mother in law driving your new Cadillac over a cliff.

Ync was just pointing out that it was nice to see someone being honest. I generally believe that who you root for doesn't effect the outcome, although I did have my doubts yesterday after turning on my phone espn app just in time to see Mizzou miss to free throws that would have won the game.

And that shows you also have to have some luck. In 999 cases out of 1000, they would have lost that game or it would have at least gone into overtime. And they had absolutley no control over the situation. However they did get the final rebound which prevented Mizzou from taking a close in shot which could have won the game. The old "lucky is better than good" applied, at least, in this situation.

Not hate. At least no one I know hates Steve. In fact, that's the only reason he's been here as long as he has. He's a great guy. Nearly everyone likes him as a person. But as I told someone who said Steve was a really nice guy, "You're a really nice guy, but I wouldn't want you coaching the Trojans". Nice is good if you're winning. If you're not, nice won't cut it.04-cheers

"Hate" is overstatement as is "love" when used by our posters regarding Steve. Some simply are content to let others make personnel decisions without bitching, whining, or boycotting.

Good source from someone deep inside program. I believe mjs on this. He's been right on all his sources from deep inside so far. He called the AD from the day Peterson resigned. They hired the puppet they wanted. The one they knew would keep Shields. If they keep Shields for year thirteen, that proves what I've always believed. They don't want a winning program. No one would keep a coach for thirteen years who has produced no more than he has if they were serious about having a viable program. If he returns I'm done for good. I don't give a damn anymore.

Chasse is no one's puppet. If the losses continue he will do what he has to do. I was given an opinion by someone who used to be (has been- as in past tense) in the program. This person is not a "current" source and really has no idea what Chasse will do- and no one else does either. This person was not my source on Chasse's hiring.

We'll see. You say he's bright. If he's bright he'll look at his overall record, compare the number of season tickets sold since the Jack opened, look at the financial records, and conclude that something hasn't worked for twelve years. I'll be the first one to say I'm wrong, if I am. Like not predicting a teams record prior to the season, and not commenting on recruits, I'm certainly willing to wait until the end of this season before dubbing him "Howdy Doody."

Mjs: If Chasse does what I think he should do, then he's smart. If he doesn't, then he's a puppet.:ban

I would start the coaching search now and fire the entire staff the day after the last ncaa tourny game and be ready to announce the new coach the next day.

I would get someone from a bcs school that could bring some recruits with him like Tech did.

It's got nothing to do with what I think, if he's smart, and if he really wants to turn this thing around, and if he's got no limit on his actions, and can do anything he thinks is best, he'll replace Shields at the end of the season. If not, then he's either not as smart as you two seem to think, or he's somebody's puppet. But, I'm trying to figure out why anyone as smart as you two guys, would want to keep him.

He's not the "fans" puppet either. He's not going to do something because a few folks on a message board tell him to do it. I honestly don't know what the financial considerations are. He does, and he will make the best decision based on the facts.

I know I'm not as smart as you, but I'm not a complete certified dumb-ass either. Don't want him to be anyone's puppet, just want him to start turning this ******* train wreck around, and not wait another year or two to start it. I know he's not going to listen to me, or even consult me, and I'm most likely not going to talk to him. I'm sure that all you guys have let him know your opinions, and that's fine.

I want an AD that's got balls big enough so that he can and will make tough decisions when they are needed. No coach should still be on the job this long with no more to show for it than Shields has. You or I don't know what he'll do, unless that "good source" you speak of, is the AD himself.

I'll be crossing my fingers and holding my breath until he makes an announcement one way or the other. Of course you could give all the folks on the board a little advanced warning when your "source" tells you.

I was just kidding. I have no educated opinion. When Chasse starts practicing law, I will start making personnel decisions regarding college basketball coaches. I will trust his judgment over that of anyone on this board, including mine.
