70.3% is probably our second best performance ever. I saw a note that it was the second best of the year for any team in D1 basketball. Only Butler shot better earlier this year.

I found this in my files: Going into tonight's game:

Highest Field Goal Pct./ game
Under Gene Bartow - .714 vs. Tennessee (12/29/83)
Under Murry Bartow: .643 vs. Alcorn State (12/4/01)
Under Mike Anderson: .625 vs. Oklahoma St. (12/28/05)
Under Mike Davis: .648 vs. Alabama A&M (12/4/2007)
Under Jarod Haase: .596 – Middle Tennessee (1/11/2014)

So 70.3% would be second best behind the 1983 game against Tennessee. I don't remember any other Gene Bartow team shooting better.

It was a spectacle to behold. In conference play, our shot selection has become so good. Everyone is being very selective on offense. Case in point: we only took 7 threes today, and made 5 of them. And 3 of those were from Lee.

Ha Ha is shooting .583333 from beyond the arc.

Granted he's only taken 12 of them.

A guy with his height who steps back to take a three is all but impossible to block. If he can make those at a decent clip, man, that kid...

What's incredible is the high shooting percentage isn't just from one or two guys going off. It seemed like whoever came in for us was hitting the bottom of the bucket with each shot.

And again we are talking mostly freshmen and sophomores achieving these things. The ceiling for these guys over the next 3-4 years is incredibly high.

I think that was the night we beat Tennessee in either Hawaii or Alaska?

It was the first time I've had the chance to to see them live. The thing that struck me was how comfortable they all were in the offense. There were few panic shots and they consistently got good looks. They're just not playing like a bunch of freshmen and with a break for a few days they get a chance to rest and heal up. They're going to be a handful for anyone from this point forward

And keep in mind that this was against a very good defensive team...not against a team that gives up 80 every night

+1... Which goes back to good decision making, set-up, shot selection, etc. This team has grown leaps and bounds this season.

Only took seven three-pointers. This is the craziest stat of all to me.

I find interesting that the games was not won by the incredible FG%. They made almost as many shots as we did, just shot a lot more. It was won at the free throw line. We made 24 free throws. They made 16.

You of all people should know that games aren't won or lost because of one stat-line.

disagree...almost every time, you can figure out who one the game if you read one stat-line:
Final Score-- 05-stirthepot

Hard to believe that we missed two out of the first three FTs. We did not miss after that. Currently a streak of 23 in a row.

And we're running the same offense that Haase has been preaching all season. Its just that the execution is finally coming around. The screens and cuts and shot selections and passes are the same ones they've been trying to do since November.

And CJ Washington isn't jacking up double digit shots anymore. That's honestly the biggest factor, along with Lee finally getting healthy/comfortable.

This is a fun team to watch, and I hate the crowds are so small.

Our interior defense is a sight to behold. You could see ODU's guards roll in, see Lee, Tosin or CJ standing there and pull up.

Tosin is still a tad soft for my tastes, but he is shifty and showing confidence. Lee will be a monster if he sticks around.

These kids have grown up in front of our eyes under the couching of Haase. The talent was there in the early games but there wasn't the confidence they are now showing. The two games last week show the 2014/2015 UAB Blazer men's basketball team have arrived. I think the rest of the season should be a lot of fun - if they keep there heads on.
