It is still game to game. Kedron was starting and then benched for a freshman for a reason. If Kedran can become consistent then he is certainly the better PG at this point. I still believe long term that Pookie is going to be a very good player for us.

I agree with your point. How quickly Pookie progresses is going to come down to how much conviction JP has to leave him in the game for more than 20 seconds at a time.

I might not like everything about Pastner but he has given Pookie his share of minutes... Pookie has just not produced as expected... Our record more than likely be worse than 13-7 if Pookie would have played thru long stretches.

I see if he'd drop about 20 lbs it would help a he// of a lot, he is just ridiculously slow to be on the court at this level. Tiger basketball has never been a slow 1/2 court game. Tiger hoops has always been up tempo, exciting, transition ball. In a 1/2 court type game KJ is your man, but it just bores me to tears even when we win.

I'd be fine with being a halfcourt team if they could play at a high level.

Don't care how we get back to having a team that punches folks in the mouth and wins a lot of games, just that we do one day.

Playing fast is a product of defense. Pookie and Markel struggle with that. Playing fast is a product making good decisions. If it ain't there don't try it ...
We're not that team yet. We actually are doing pretty good in our half court game. It's like a pitching dual in baseball ... or a defensive struggle in football. It's who we got ... who we are right now. Maybe Ole Hard Head is figuring that out finally.

Pookie's playing fine. Who else would we have lost to if Pookie was "playing thru long stretches"?

And people are actually swallowing this tripe about Pookie single-handedly losing the Tulane game? let me enlighten you guys...

With 2:30 left in the second half of that game, Pookie had 9 (NINE!!!) assists to 4 turnovers. He had over a 2:1 A/TO ratio, and we were STILL DOWN 2 POINTS (65-63). If the team defense holds up, and our PG has 9 assists, 3 TOs down the stretch should've made a 25 pt game a 20 pt game and we still win comfortably. Even with the 3 late TOs, Pookie played well enough for us to win if we play some semblance of defense. We let them score like 1.2 pts per possession without their leading scorer, which was pathetic.
