You wont hear it next week, but if he is going to this step of the process hes more than pretty damn sure he has a major funding component worked out already.

Another thing...Whether the major private donors are already lined up or not, it's a given we'll seek some public funding. Putting these plans out there for everyone to see gives the public something to get behind. The more people who see these plans and buy into them, the more pressure they'll put on their county supervisors, mayor, state representative, etc., to make it happen.

Good gosh, we added the new team facilities when Eustachy was here, but the arena itself has barely had more than a coat of paint and some new drywall in 5 decades. It's gotta start somewhere. Hell, I'd take a sketch on the back of a napkin at this point.

and that's fair enough....it is a catch-22 situation....

I just know the sentiment of this town.....that's more my concern....

I hope you're right and the masses back the proposal.....

USM was the program I was most excited to be in conference with when we joined. It was the one name that made people refrain from calling CUSA a bad conference, saying "well at least there's Southern Miss."

You guys kept it going through the transition into CUSA 2.0 after getting passed over for the move up. This time you need a little help from some of your peers to keep it all from going to **** while you get your house in order.

It happens to every program. Alabama flat sucked for a lot of years. Look at Florida now compared to 10 years ago. Not to say we're in that company but some bad decisions put Marshall into a 7-8 year tailspin and we were not used to losing for the previous 20 years.

You'll be back and the rest of us will keep the light on for you.

You won't find a more gracious post on any BBS board... Looks like good sportsmanship is alive & well.
One thing of note...Every program - particularly the mids - are one bad coach away from going sideways.
Appreciate your sentiments, sure many other USM fans do as well.

Well don't think I won't rip into you like a fresh carcass the next time we play. Just hate seeing you guys down. 04-bow

some were getting pissed about the lack of info to date (pick me).....now instead of a 'plan with a completion date' we are going to be presented with an architectural 'proposal'.....why do the masses need to hear this phase? Are we really that 'poor' at soliciting funds to meet an agenda other than being able to fire a dipshite coach after a year? I'm just scratching my head with this methodology.

yep, to the boys that mentioned, 'we would eat our words'......still gonna be waiting.....and waiting......and waiting.......and waiting......and waiting.......................................................................................
I've heard McGillis speak four or five times in the last 18 months or so. He's consistently said that he was working on concepts and what could be done. So he's delivering on that promise this week.

There is a portion of our fan base who will not be happy no matter what he presents simply because he is not their buddy who let them hang out in his office while he made videos to be played before football games.

I think the very fact that McGillis is presenting the proposals at all indicates he finally thinks there is a probability of getting something done. The guy is doing actual work, not trying to be my buddy. Sad part of that is, too many of our fans think that is backwards.

not certain you understand my position.....

regardless, just build it and do it right.....my lack of patience wore thin long ago regarding the yurt....for christ' sake, we have osb duck-blinds that come with pizza as the 'elite' view center and a projection big screen that nobody can see

kids get get scared when they walk in knowing it isn't halloween....

my arse is finished with rah-rah, happy-happy, joy-joy...

I don't think anything that has been stated regarding this topic is out-of-bounds at the realistic 'expectation' table....

What an asshat you are.

No need to take swipes at other conference members on the conference board. My guess is that you know less than jack or **** about my school or many others for that matter. I wouldn't have said anything but it's not an isolated incident with you.

The Yurt has changed very little since Pistol Pete played there on LSU's freshman team many, many years ago. Wendell Ladner fouled Pistol really hard in that game. Pete, with a few stitches from the aforementioned foul, came back and led his team to a win. Since then, very little has been done aesthetically inside the Yurt, other than some new court designs. It's the 'Curse of the Pistol' I tell ya!

Our fans have quite a bit of nerve continuously complaining about conference affiliation when we've gone 1-23 in our last 24 conference games.

Please refer to him properly as they do in Hancock county that is THE GREAT Wendell Ladner.

Who did I take a swipe at? Most teams in the bottom 3 FBS conferences don't have many fans. That's not an insult; hell, most of CUSA as it exists now weren't playing FBS ball in 2000. Building a fan base takes time.
