- Parking for Football Signing Day will work as per a normal basketball game. Lots 3, 4, 5, 10 and 18 are by pass only. All other lots are $5.

So, if you want to use a UT parking lot you're going to shell out $13, not eight. And, you're paying for a basketball event, so it doesn't help football anyway.

Some stadiums it's $11 a beer.

All these years I thought there was only one Athletic Department. Man, was I fooled.........

Me, too, Terry. of course, even if that was true you'd still be supporting UT athletics. I plan to buy 50-50 tickets to support the Track and Field Athletic Department and a program to support the Basketball Athletic Department. The Football Athletic Department gets way too much as it is.

Holy ****! Can we get a donation started for Toledo Football 1st! I will give a dollar! 12 more people donate please so we don't have to listen to the whining about 13$. I didn't even go to Toledo but make my donation every year! Go to every football game home and away! Go to some men's and women's basketball games, occasional baseball game and read about other sports online since I live two hours away! If I lived in Toledo sure bet I would be at the basketball game and if there wasn't a basketball game I would pay 13$ to take a first hand look at the class of 2015! Stop the bitching! If you want to go to the signing day presentation pay 13$ watch it then stay for basketball or go home! If you don't want to pay for the presentation then stay home! Go ROCKETS!

Everybody has their own amount of cash. If money's tight, one more thing you're shut out on. If the team weren't important to someone, I guess they'd not be complaining. Or maybe the concern isn't the money for themselves but that it might reduce fan presence?

What's more important, fan presence or the miniscule amount of money they're going to bring in with this charge? There is SOME curiosity in the decision.

UT still cheaper and more accessable than OSU or UM for the fans. AN event like this if open to the public would cost a fortune

I'm just going to view this as another perk of my ultimate fan plan package for men's basketball. Already have the game ticket and parking pass as a result. Although it is 2 different sports perhaps they can market it that way next season (fan plan gets free admission to the unveiling of the new football class)?

So, you're saying that all of the ticket revenues from all of the sports go into one big bucket and get divided up among all of the sports? If that's true I didn't know that, but I doubt that is the case. Maybe you were fooled. ?????? ...... !!!!!!! ______ &&&&&&

This is true. But, if I would like a pack of ketchup I am not forced to buy an $11 beer to get one.

I just think it's a goofy arrangement that's all. If money is needed to defray costs of the presentation then why not just say it and charge a few bucks, or say donations would be appreciated, or something like that? But, I don't see where that's happening if you have to by a bb ticket. And I'm not anti-basketball; I go to a few games, and I pay for the ticket. I'm just not interested in this one. If I want to make a donation, I'll make a donation. That's my business. But, an event fee isn't a donation. If someone else wants to look at it that way, fine. I don't.

I'm not bent out of shape over it, I'm just stating my opinion, that's all. If that causes some of my fellow posters to get bent out of shape, that's not my problem. Have a drink or take a Midol or something. Jeeeeesh...

With your doubt of how the money is not split...... Let's take one the golf teams (men's or women's, doesn't matter). Under your premise the golf team would get all the money from tickets sales at home matches or tournaments to pay for scholarships, travel, equipment, etc..... Oh wait!!!!! They have no ticket revenue..... NO HOME GAMES, MATCHES, or TOURNAMENTS!!!!!!! The golf team get their funds from ticket revenues of the football, Men's BB, & Women's BB games. (the revenue sports) and the Rocket Fund. Yes, there is one big bucket, ..... and yes, the money is divided up among all the sports (revenue & nonrevenue).

RE: Football Signing Day Presentation.
I don't believe I've ever been to an athletic event other than football or basketball. I assumed they sold tickets to those events just like football and basketball, so I never really thought about where they get there funding. When people refer to "non-revenue" sports I never thought it meant NO revenue, just low revenue. With things the way they are today I don't see how a few "revenue" sports can support themselves, plus a bunch of non-revenue sports. So, if a school drops football, how can the other sports continue to survive?

RE: Football Signing Day Presentation.
I'm really not sure why a ticket to the basketball game is required to attend the signing day presentation, but I can think of two reasons. It could be an attempt to generate some crossover interest between the two sports, or to provide a bump in attendance for the basketball game. I don't think there are more than maybe a half dozen or so attendees would fit either so I must be wrong on both. I was figuring on attending both and the time change of the signing event to 5:30 just consumes less of my evening and more importantly, I won't miss the first half as I try to get out of work early.

Most "revenue" sports don't make any money either.
