Any money, the Miami Bowl slot will be sold to the ACC and the Cure Bowl goes to CUSA. Aersco needs to get with Swofford and offer the Miami Bowl the years the Orange is a Semi.

I don't think we need any more bowl games but if the AAC were to create a game they need to keep the slot at-large P5 first and G5 second. Also, sell the game to someone other than ESPN for a better time slot. What they should have done with Miami Bowl in the first place. P5's with extra teams will be calling and as you saw this season, they will be the first taken.

Boca Raton Bowl, Boca Raton, Fla. – vs. MAC
Cure Bowl, Orlando, Fla. - vs. SBC

We have 7 tie ins next year and 8 every year after that. How many more do we need. Even if he sells a bowl to get better opponent in MBB that still leaves 6-7 for 12 team conf.

The AAC has 7 next year and 8 the following years. It's probably a good bet that one gets traded for an upgraded opponent in Miami. I'll go with Boca over Cure as it is the inaugural bowl. Also, I think any year the Bahamas is in play, it will be on the chopping block. The league doesn't seem to want to have much to do with that one.

I wonder if we start selling off bowls to get better opponents?

I don't mind only having 5-6 bowls for 12 teams if the match-ups are solid.

Only way that can happen is if the AAC owns the bowls. Operating a couple in the same area may realize some cost savings, but conferences aren't in the business of running bowls. My total guess would be the LR Bowl and maybe Christmas Bowl. The little I heard coincided with what an Ark. St. poster wrote a few months back...only he knew way more detail than the little snippet I picked up. Anyway, the LR Bowl apparently wants the AAC as one of the anchors. Though anyone's guess is as good as mine.

Plus the chance for the access which I hope we get at least half the time. That makes it 8-9 if we get that. I seriously don't see more than 7 or 8 teams being bowl eligible each year given how we are trying to schedule.

I think the problem is more where the bowls are located than how many. I think 8 ties is enough. The problem is only 1 tie is on the Mississippi or west of the Mississippi. Almost half our league is on the Mississippi or west of it. My guess is we will eventually see another new bowl in Texas either in the new TDECU stadium or in Bobcat stadium in San Marcos (within a 40 minute drive of Austin and San Antonio).
