Chimps, begging recruits to stay on board their sinking ship
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=340&f=2793&t=13596863
A once proud program reduced to begging.
The captain has abandoned ship ijust as Hurricane Signingday hits broadside, and the passengers are begging the crew of recruits to stick with them until the weather clears.
This is about as bad a situation as it gets. You have a program with some stability, a recruiting class that gets bi$tch slapped in the final hours of the recruiting cycle, and a AD whose #1 asset is he looks the part of a CEO, even if his decisions are akin to a McDonalds manager's.
This is a recipe for disaster. This is not your Brian Kelly's CMU. The fans are turned off, the students don't really care, the program is clearly on a downturn, and it could take years to restore it to a competitive level again.
The game plan for CMU will be the same for every team. Take out their QB, and you sink their program. That is how fragile it has got. New coach, new AD, it won't matter. They are one injury away from being the EMU of the MAC next year. They are that thin at the most critical position on the field.

RE: Chimps, begging recruits to go stay on board their sinking ship
They have one thread dedicated to begging Rayshawn Wilborn not to leave and another pleading with Tryone Miller not to visit Wyoming.
"Tyrone, it's really cold and windy in Wyoming. Don't leave us Tyrone!!!."
As if Mt. Pleasant is paradise.

RE: Chimps, begging recruits to stay on board their sinking ship
Most of their 2015 committed class don't have more than one offer, so they should hold the majority of them together. They are going to loose a few purely because the ones that do have more than one offer will open the recruiting process up again. Pizzid off about Enos leaving.
Could this be a Buffalo? Highly unlikely scenario but food for thought?
CMU hires a coach before signing day and then pulls a Buffalo on the recruits...and does not honor some of their offers. Guess Buffalo honored some offers and not others, granted timing was little different.

Fleck didn't honor all of Cubit's commits, either.

They have a new thread begging Wilborn and Miller to consider the cost of plane ticket home from Wyoming.
I honestly don't think either of them will end up in Wyoming, and a plane ticket to Lansing wont be necessary

Took a peak at their board just recently...posts are all rather sad! Not a whole lot of WMU bashing going on, more like Fleck cloning being requested. Go figure.

RE: Chimps, begging recruits to stay on board their sinking ship
Apparently one of their recruits, Deshawn Baker-Williams, has flipped to UB.
There's no way they hold on to Tyrone Miller, who has opened his recruiting and made disparaging remarks about the coaching situation in Mt. Pee. He has been visiting other schools and received several offers since Enos left.
Rayshawn Wilborn is 50/50 I think, and Alexx Zielinksi is another kid receiving numerous new offers since the Enos announcement.
Signing day is going to be a mess for CMU...and I love it...

lol
You may be on to something here. Perhaps directing a message board post at them isn't the way to go. I wonder if contacting recruits directly to try and influence their decision might be better. Do you know anyone with expertise in this matter?
Thanks.

Jerry Tarkanian had Frank Sinatra call a kid from New Jersey back in the old days.

Of course thats against the rules now and UNLV was a decent program that had a coach instead of a miserable train wreck of a program with an embarrassing fan base and no coach. So I wouldn't suggest trying it.

There's a big difference in UNLV and CMU.
Tark had a player, Loyde Daniels, who was a criminal and never went to class...........Oh, wait

No, that's not an infraction. For example, 9 years ago a back up QB at some backcwoods school was on a message board blabbing about how great it was to have verballed to the backwoods school. Then some clown came on that message board about a week later and asked the kid if he was still excited about his verbal now that the coach he had verballed to had quit. Funny, a week or so later the kid decommitted, and looked for other offers. The dopy fan base at the school he had decommitted from were all butt hurt and blamed it on the guy who pointed out that his coach had quit...............as if that were the reason he decommitted. Well it all worked out for the kid and the butt hurt dopy fan base. No other school wanted him (although some idiot claimed he had an offer from Iowa), he recommitted, and he had a stellar career sending in signals from the sidelines.
So no, even the Slappies begging recruits to stay isn't a violation, unless they email them or call them up or something. It's simply a glimpse into a floundering programs continued demise.
Hope that clears things up.

Are you talking about this guy? Brian Brunner?
His big opportunity came in 2008.
He was given the chance to come into the game after Lefevour hurt his ankle in the Temple game. Brunner guided the team to a big win on CMU's Homecoming.
The next week versus Western Michigan, Brunner got his first start in two years, guiding Central to a big rivalry win throwing for 341 yards and running for 36. Leading CMU to a 38-28 victory over WMU.
