Jalen Riley on pace to get to 1,000 himself
If my math is correct, Jalen Riley is on pace to get to 1,000 points even if he has only been with us for a short period of time. He has 833 point thru the Citadel game. That leaves him with 167. We have 11 regular season games left. If you count at least one game in the SoCon tourney, that leaves him with a minimum of 12 games left to play, where he would need to average 13.9 ppg, which is manageable. He is currently averaging 20.2 ppg. He averaged 13.4 ppg last year. Pretty impressive if he can do it.

Also, if that does happen, when was the last time we had three 1,000-pt scorers on the court at the same time?

ESPN stats - Jalen Riley

I'm all for Jalen getting to 1,000 but I hope it doesn't happen at the expense of wins for our team. Maybe it's just me but he doesn't appear to be as efficient in the last couple of games. Too many forced shots and TOs.

You probably meant 1000 points at the same time, not including people who would go on to reach that mark.

But I am not sure Smith reached that Mark before the other 2 left.

I prefer having Riley come off the bench. It looks like he's starting now. I just think we are way more steady with McClain running the point.

Bartow said on call in show that the reason Riley is starting is he wants him to play 33-34 minutes a game and coming off the bench he loses 3-4 minutes at the start of each half. I think Bartow says he was averaging 28 minutes a game coming off the bench.

Riley maddens me in the way that Tim Smith did. He's not nearly as good as Tim, but makes some of the same bonehead mistakes.

Yes I was referring to those that had already attained that mark on the floor at the same time.

I'm eye to eye with ETSUfan1. Riley shouldn't start over McClain, if that's what it comes down to. If we run 4-5 guards, one needs to be a true point. Riley is not. Bench a different player if you insist, Bartow. McClain is the only one that can lead the team, not the scoring.

I agree that McClain shold start - however I really like Riley. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he is also an incredible scorer. Way more good than bad with him IMO.
